May Rally - Vevay, IN - May 3rd

It may seem hard to believe, but spring is just around the corner. The Wessels and Rusters have planned an exciting weekend beginning Thursday, May 3rd. The rally is going to be held in Vevay, Indiana, a little town in southern Indiana. This year we will be camping at Follow the River Campground. The facilities are excellent and the club will have the use of a large meeting room that is heated. This will be a real plus since it is hard to predict what the weather will be like in May.

As the coaches arrive they will be parked on large cement pads that provide full hook-up. That evening members can elect to join others and have dinner at Mo’s Steakhouse. The campground meeting room will be available for those who want to share their experiences this winter or maybe play a few hands of cards.

Friday will begin with a pitch-in breakfast. The club has great cooks and it is a delight to share in the good food. After breakfast members can visit the Switzerland County Historical Museum and the Life on the Ohio Museum. All members will receive coupons for free admission to the museums. Members will be treated to a “haystack” dinner in the meeting room. If you haven’t had a “haystack” before it is a mouthwatering delight. After dinner Hoosier Cruisers will be able to enjoy the night life of Vevay. The town will provide live local entertainment and free carriage rides.

The next day starts with the “world famous donuts” prepared by Nancy Ruster. Last year they were a great hit. There is nothing like fresh donuts. The rest of the day will be spent in nearby Madison where members may take a tour of the power plant or take a behind the scenes tour of the Lanier home. For those who have visited Madison before, some may just enjoy shopping and touring the town of Madison.

Returning to the campground late afternoon, plan to enjoy the Kentucky Derby and participate in a happy hour. To make this celebration even more fun, members are asked to wear their derby hat. The derby just wouldn’t be the derby without the over the top hats that are worn by derby goers. Dinner will include Kentucky fried chicken with members providing the side dishes. We will watch the Kentucky Derby on a big screen and root for our favorite horse. To continue the festivities we will have our own horse races in the clubhouse with winners receiving prizes.

On Sunday members can attend a church service at a church next to the campground.

We are looking forward to seeing all our friends who are certain to have many tales about their adventures this winter. Hope to see you all at the spring rally.

Hoosier Cruisers Winter Gather

It’s that time of year again and the weather here in Florida has been great. Sandy and I are looking forward to the Hoosier Cruisers winter gathering. For all you snowbirds and anyone traveling in the Florida area we will have a Hoosier Cruisers luncheon on Thursday February 16th from 11:00-3:00p.m. at Sun N’ Fun RV resort in Sarasota, Florida. Many of you will remember the wonderful luncheon served the last couple of years by the resort staff. You may also be interested in the new multimillion dollar lifestyle center constructed since last year. A video can be viewed on line at the Sun N’ Fun website. If any of you would like to come for a few days just call the office and ask for Elaine. Identify yourselves as Hoosier Cruisers and it may help. Feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone and I’ll do all I can to assist you. We will need a head count to make adequate arraignments so let me know as soon as you can if you can make it. Sad News About One of Our Own

I received the following e-mail from Jane and Ernie Clashman.

We recieved a call from Sharion Matheny tonight. Russell (Bud) Myers passed away early this morning. 2:30 am.
Mary Belle is doing ok..

Bud will be at the Weaver and Randolph Funeral Home in Clayton, IN. 4712 Pennsylvania Street, 317-539-4567
Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 6th. 4 to 8 pm.

Funeral service will be Saturday Jan. 7th at 10:30 am.
As of 8:20pm Wed. Ernie and I could not find Bud listed with the Funeral Home. His name did come up, no other information. If we find out more we will let you know. Keep the family in your prayers. Jane and Ernie

Hoosier Cruisers Gather For Christmas Fellowship

For those that couldn’t travel to Anderson there was a Northern Christmas dinner held Saturday in Napanee and it was a great event. Those of you that attended the Bremen rally a year ago might remember a great meal at Mullets Amish restaurant. Well they did it again. After Denny Filson offered the blessing we all sat down. I was at the end of the table that the family style meal began and my eyes got big when a large bowl of homemade mashed potatoes was presented followed by chicken and noodles. The green beans followed and I was happy. As I started to take my first bite a platter of roast beef appeared. Wow I thought and helped myself. Just as I was about to partake again the most wonderful fried chicken was presented. Oh I’m so weak. Add to this the best just baked yeast rolls and five different pies and I guess you could say we were in dinning heaven. Our hosts the DeCausemakers and Schumakers planned an enjoyable afternoon with a unique gift exchange which had us all spinning around and wonderful entertainment of Holiday songs and sing along by our newest Hoosier Cruiser Dane Bailey, the Singing Auctioneer. We were pleased Dane and his wife Christina were able to attend their first function and hope to see them again very soon. We had over forty members at the dinner and thankfully they have room for more. Next year is already planned for December 8th and I suspect the attendance may go up. Merry Christmas and safe travels to all.

Celebrating Christmas

Hoosier Cruisers gathered at Ryan's Restaurant to share in the celebration of Christmas before leaving for warmer climates or storing their coach for the winter season.

As usual it was great fun visiting with friends and sharing stories of what had happened since the last rally that they attended.

Members proceeded to the buffet after Bettie Wessel blessed the meal. Everyone found something that was to their liking. The only problem the plates were too small. You can see in the picture to the right that the club members had a great time.

What fun to see those Hoosier Cruisers that regularly attend rallies and those members who haven't recently attended one of the club events.

As members prepared to leave, everyone wished the members a Merry Christmas and Happy Travels.

Get Well

Many of you know the Berriers. Bill was a past president and he and his wife Sandy have also served as rally masters. They both have been challenged by some health challenges. Their daughter wrote that Bill has had his retina re-attached, and Sandy has had a slight stroke and is suffering from heart problems. Both are on the mends and the Hoosier Cruisers wish improved health.

Fantastic Fall Rally

The October rally was put on by Steve and Cassie Lisle, Jim and Barb Gibson and Danny and Mary Lou Biddle at Steve and Cassie Lisle's beautiful property north of Columbia City and it was a great fall experience -- absolutely loaded with activities. The weather was drop dead gorgeous, clear sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's. We took a tour of Silgan Plastics in Ligonier, which is one of the largest manufacturers of plastic bottles in the world and it was a very interesting operation. Then we had lunch at the "Fashion Farm Restaurant" which is located on a farm that grows all sorts of stuff – pumpkins, squash, flowers, etc. and featured the "Pumpkin Fantasy Land", a creative Halloween maze display. After lunch, back at the Lisle farm, there was a Euchre tournament and a dice tournament followed by a sloppy joe dinner with all kinds of side dishes that the rallyers brought in. MaryLou treated us to "Stone Soup" with a big rock in it. She took big rock about four inches in diameter, heated it up real hot and dropped it into the soup. The hot stone keeps the soup from getting cold. Cassie assured us that the big rock had been scrubbed, run through the dishwasher and had been properly sanitized. After dinner there was a huge campfire with a man strolling around the campfire circle strumming a guitar and singing all manner of songs to a large circle of Hoosier Cruisers.

Saturday morning we did one of those carry-in breakfast things where everyone brings way more than they could eat by themselves resulting in a really huge table full of way too much food and everyone, therefore, eats way too much food. The Lisle’s, our rally hosts, are very well organized folks. Steve's shop is all painted up and really neat and clean – really clean! ! Some folks think a man's shop should be messy. Actually, Steve and Cassie, both, are classic "neat freaks". For the rest of the day the Lisles had organized all manner of "stuff" including a sort of "games for everyone" thing. There was a bracelet making class, fishing pole casting into a big yellow ring contest, egg toss from one guy to another with raw eggs, carry an egg in a spoon and back without dropping it, pitching bean bags into a hole, etc.

Saturday evening we had catered dinner in one of the Lisle’s barn/buildings and afterwards they gave away tons of door prizes that were wrapped up in newspaper in what is sometimes called an "Ever Changing Gift Exchange". When your name was drawn you could go and pick one of the wrapped packages – no lifting or shaking — and then you brought it back to your seat where you had to unwrap it and sit it on your table for all to see. Now when the next guy’s name was drawn he had another option. He could do the same thing that you did and pick a wrapped package from the table or he could walk over to your table and confiscate the prize that you had previously chosen. A prize could only be "confiscated" two times after which it permanently resided with its last owner. This whole process was an absolute hoot. If you selected and unwrapped a particularly attractive prize – forget it ! You were destined to get ripped off. Louise, picked a big package and unwrapped this kinda neat folding lawn chair/chaise lounge type gadget and set it in front of her on the table. She looked at it, affectionately, stroked it and beamed with pride and joy. Well, naturally, it didn’t last long. The next gal whose name was called walked away from the prize table and zeroed in on Louise’s lounge chair like a laser beam. Louise sadly watched her prized chair leave for it's new home. Not surprisingly the new owner shortly fell victim to the same process and someone ripped off the lounge from her like she had done from Louise. A while later Louise’s husband, JR’s, name was drawn and just what do you think happened? With Louise energetically coaching JR, he walked straight away towards the most recent lounge chair owner and reclaimed Louise’s treasured chaise lounge. The rub was that this represented the third rip-off of the lounge so it was now immune to rip-off forevermore. Louise and her lounge could now live "happily ever after" – sort of like the princess and the ex- frog who was now a handsome prince. Folks got very involved in protecting their treasured prizes. There was large amounts of hootin’ and hollerin’ it was great fun to watch this whole process.

Sunday morning we were treated to fresh fried "Potato Doughnuts" engineered by Danny & Mary Lou, Jim & Barb, Steve & Cassie, and Doug who assisted in the very early cooking process. It was a dynamite rally and a great way to end the season.

The Mennonite Relief Sale Gathering

Many of you will remember the September rally last year held in the conjunction with the Mennonite relief sale in Goshen. Well, Doug and Betty Tilmann organized a non-rally repeat this year and I received the following report from Doug.
The Mennonite Relief Sale "Gathering" was well attended indeed. We had originally anticipated a half dozen or less units but we ended up with thirteen coaches. Steve and Betty LeCount brought three guests. It rained a lot Friday and Saturday but it didn't bother us because the organized activities were held indoors. They auctioned off a loaf of bread for $1,200. Yikes ! Betty Tilmann's unofficial count tallied the proceeds of the quilt auction at $93,735 from the sale of 233 quilts. It was a fun and interesting weekend. Doug

Fun in Fort Wayne

Members seemed to have a great time in Fort Wayne and the weather cooperated with mostly sunny days. Friday kicked off with two special tours. Dr. Joe Smith, veterinarian at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, gave a wonderful tour of the zoo veterinary hospital and then surprised the club with an exclusive visit to the giraffe holding area. If that wasn't enough he personally escorted interested members through the african velt exhibit. He then repeated all of this in the afternoon. The club members were able to feed the giraffes including Jelani, the 13 year old 2500lb male and get many questions answered about the caring for the 1400 species at the zoo.

While half of the attendees were at the zoo the other group was visiting Sweetwater Sound. Many thought this was going to be a visit to a "music" store but found a truly unique experience. Sweetwater started as a small instrument business and has grown to one of the largest in the world. Their facility is the first "green" business of its size in northern and is 75% self sufficient. Along with instruments Sweetwater is a complete recording studio and specializes in sound equipment of all kinds. In addition, employees and the general public can also enjoy a fine restaurant and an activities area including games, computerized realistic golf and a complete exercise and workout area. My guess is they have very little employee turnover.

Finally, I should announce that all current officers were re-elected at the business meeting except for Sandy Hahn who had completed her third year as secretary. Congratulations go to Beth Bailey our new secretary.

The Best of Anderson

The Anderson rally was free dry camping at the Hoosier Park Racing - Casino parking lot, August 18-21, 2011. As a result, we were able to have many new informative experiences. Our Rally Masters were Bob & Mable Heath assisted by Jerry & Carol Hardacre.

Thursday afternoon 16 of our attendees toured the renovated Historical Paramount Theater in downtown Anderson, followed by a tour of Good’s Candy with a very interesting history of chocolate from its origin to the present. Then supper was on our own.

Friday started off with a guided tour of the Willemsen Dairy Farm. Teo Willemsen, the owner and operator, is a native of the Netherlands and is now milking about 1500 head of cows three times a day. From there we came back to the casino for lunch then a tour of the race track. Friday night all 45 of our attendees traveled to Carmel, IN to Conner Prairie for a concert at the “Symphony on the Prairie” featuring “The Glen Miller Band.” We enjoyed a box supper on the front row of tables under beautiful skies. Our trips for the day were enhanced by traveling in the tour bus acquired and driven by Jerry Hardacre.

Saturday morning we traveled by bus to the Loyal and True Pet Crematories for another very interesting tour and learning experience. The casino was available the whole weekend 24/7 for gambling or watching the Thoroughbreds race in the afternoon. Saturday evening we all caravanned to Ross & Melanie Boyer’s house for a pitch in dinner and fellowship.

Sunday morning we had a continental breakfast under the awnings of the Heath’s and Hardacre’s, followed by a worship service with the music preformed by Nancy Ruster & Melanie Boyer and message by Carol Hardacre. Everything went well until a thunder storm scattered the congregation. A half hour later the sky opened up for a beautiful day from then on.

All in all, we had a very enjoyable informative weekend.

Some Of Our Members Temporarily Off The Road

Ernie and Jane Clashman do everything together. Right now, recovery is the project of the day. Ernie had a recent repeat knee replacement which should get him back on track and Jane is now recovering from a shoulder replacement surgery. As I know both are fast healers we should see them soon. Also on the tempory disabled list is our past president Greg Wessel. While moving their "stuff" to Columbus Ind. Greg took a fall and messed up his knee. He had surgery last Wednesday and is doing well but can't drive the coach for 10 weeks. I'm not sure the coach has ever been idle that long. They're living in it at Ceraland in Columbus while they look for a home near family. With Bettie taking care of him I know Greg will not be down long. He's probably wondering if he could drive the coach with his crutch on the gas/brake. While Greg's a bit unlucky I'm sure he will follow doctors orders but don't be surprised if he figures a way to drop in on a rally for a visit. September Fun in Fort Wayne

Fun in Auburn

Many thanks go to Helen & Jene Chadwell, and Cassie & Steve Lisle for planning a rally that went off without a hitch. The rally was held in Auburn at the Fireside Resort Park and parking was a breeze with large, level sites. The rally began on Thursday with a tour of Sechler's Pickles in St. Joe, IN. Even though temperatures were in the 100's our harty Hoosier Cruisers toured the plant. Those taking the tour saw the pickling process from start to finish. At the end of the tour many sampled the wide variety of pickles and other items and almost everyone left with something they favored. Many members elected to go to dinner at Ponderosa. The food was good, but the fellowship was even better. You can see from the photo everyone was having a good time.

The great attraction to the Auburn area is the vast collection of museums. One can view antique cars, trucks, military paraphernalia, historic items and railroad memorabilia.

Friday began with an outstanding pitch-in and WOW the food was delicious. During the day attendees choose where they wanted to shop and where they wanted to tour. The day ended with a catered meal at the Military History Center. It is an amazing collection of military artifacts. You can see that our Hoosier Cruiser President was busy chauffeuring Sandy around town.

The club began Saturday with another great breakfast. The rally masters planned this rally with the flexibility to explore the areas' attractions at a leisurely pace. It should be noted that Doug Lockwood was a speaker at the rally. He discussed the Economic Outlook in our country. Numerous club members commented that they really enjoyed listening and talking to him. Have you ever played Card BINGO? It is a blast! Most people in attendance tried this card game which included prizes. The prizes were to be white elephant gifts, but instead they were really nice prizes. There was lots of hollering and everyone had an enjoyable evening.

The rally closed with devotions given by Bettie Wessel and hymns lead by Bruce Bailey. Everyone left with great expectations for the next rally.

More sad news to report

I've just learned that Bruce Bailey's mother Irene has passed away following a long illness. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00P.M. at Genda funeral home in Frankfort with services on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. also at Genda.
Sadly, I must also report that Marta Gerard lost her mother last Sunday the 24th. I'm sure I speak for all in extending our sympathies and prayers to Bruce and Marta and their entire families.

Yesterday morning (Monday July 25, 2011) about 7:15 Wilma Brown Wife of Lowell Brown died. She had been in the Hospital for just a few days.
The obituary will probably be in the Frankfort Times tomorrow.
Visitation will be at Wesley Manor Thursday July 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. then at Genda Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. The Funeral will be at St Matthew UMC in Frankfort following visitation from 10 to 11.
The thoughts and prayers of all Hoosier Cruisers are with Lowell at this difficult time.

Pre Rally and GLASS

Six coaches arrived at the Tilmann property for a pre-rallly. The Tilman's and Schumaker's were well prepared for those attending. Members were treated to an excellent chicken dinner prepared by Doug; it was delicious! Attendees also had a pitch-in Italian dinner and as usual the food was excellent.

In addition to eating Doug had arranged a tech seminar at Duncan RV. The owner provided information on a variety of topics, but the one of most interest was concerning the recalls of RV refrigerators. Duncan offers a new fire extinguisher that goes in the refrigerator compartment to reduce the risk of a fire caused by a refrigerator failure.

The rally ended with dinner at Between the Buns which had live entertainment. The Tilmann's and Schumakers deserve a huge Thank you for their efforts.

From the Tilmann rally members traveled to J&D Truck stop and had lunch at the cafe. Eleven coaches traveled to Berrien Springs, Michigan, to the GLASS Rally. The club was parked in the same location as last year and everyone got settled with no problems in spite of the rain from the previous days.

The GLASS Rally offers something for everyone including food, seminars, entertainment, coach displays, service, vendor displays, crafts and good fellowship. On Thursday several members had lunch at Tabor Hill Winery. This has become an annual event and diners were not disappointed. Lunches included rasberry chicken, blue gill, and many other interesting meals.

Thanks to Harry and Connie DeCausemaker, the club has a new banner which was first displayed during the opening ceremonies parade.

The Hoosier Cruisers also participated in the Chapter Fair. As you can see current members also stopped by including Ed Casada. It was well attended and the club had two new families join.

Welcome Mangans and Timmers.

The entertainment was excellent this year. It included T. J. Cravens who sang a variety of songs and was only 15 years old. Friday, attendees were treated to Three Men and A Tenor, and Saturday the RedHead Express provided music from the 50's and 60's. On Sunday morning the Bobby Bowen & Family sang and played a mixture of Christian Country music. It was a great way to start the day. The day ended with music Ann Stewart and the Banjo Buddies. Click on the arrow below picture above to hear part of their performance. The list of entertainment would not be complete without the Frustrated Maestros being mentioned. Hoosier Cruiser members,Harts and Baileys, are members of this group.

On Saturday, the Hoosier Cruisers served the meal. Over 550 persons were served a chicken dinner. This would not have been possible if it weren't for the volunteerism of the 34 HC members. The GLASS committee and Bettie Wessel greatly appreciated the efforts of the members. Thanks!!!!!

GLASS

The GLASS rally (Great Lakes Area Spring Spree) is just around the corner and many of us are excited and looking forward to this annual event in Berrien Springs, Michigan. For those unfamiliar, the rally starts May 26 and runs through May 30. Many vendors will be present as well as new and used coaches to view, seminars to attend and great food and entertainment daily. Registration forms are available in your FMCA magazine and you can also sign up on line. Just google GLASS RALLY. While everyone can arrive anytime during the rally, last year we found it great fun to enter the grounds a day early on Wednesday. While there is a $20.00 fee for the extra nite it was very relaxed and we got excellent parking. This year we plan to do the same. Those traveling from the Tilmann pre rally and all others interested in a caravan to the rally will meet at J D's truck stop on the northwest corner of US 31 and US 12 just two miles north of the Michigan state line. We will depart for the rally grounds at 12:30pm. This should put us at the fairgrounds about 20 minutes later. If you are planning to arrive at this time put are coming from a different area please let me know so we can coordinate and not get separated. Looking forward to seeing everyone - Rick Hahn

Rain Didn't Dampen Spirits at May Rally

The Corydon Rally was well attended in spite of the rain. All coaches were parked on asphalt so no one got stuck. Members began to roll in on Thursday and all had arrived by that evening. Some of the members elected to travel to Leavenworth to eat at the Overlook Restaurant. From the restaurant one can see for about 20 miles up and down the Ohio River. Members had a great view from their tables and even were treated to a double rainbow. On the way back a tree had fallen across the road, but all were able to navigate around the fallen branches. That evening everyone was lulled to sleep by a drumming of raindrops on the roofs of their coaches.

Friday began with breakfast and thankfully the rain had let up. After breakfast the members regrouped and traveled to Golf Shores. This is an indoors miniature golf course that is lit by black lights. The entire area has scenes painted by students ranging from nine years old to twenty years old. If that was not enough, the artwork was in 3-D when viewed with the special glasses. Not being able to read the path that your golf ball would take made the holes especially challenging, although several were skilled/lucky enough to make hole in ones.

After playing an exciting game of golf, members traveled to Scout Mountain Winery to sample wine that is produced locally. As an additional treat Hoosier Cruisers could elect to participate in a cooking class that demonstrated how to incorporate wine and herbs in recipes. Members sampled an excellent dip, basil pasta, strawberry lemonade with basil and a delicious wine cake. Everyone left with smiles on their faces.

While it may seem that many of our activities center around eating,and it is true that the day ended with an excellent meal at Magdalena's Restaurant. Diners had a choice of vegetable lasagna, country fried steak, vegetables, fruit, tossed salad and cobbler that was out of this world.

Saturday began with Nancy, Roberta and Bettie preparing fresh fried donuts. Between them they made over 100 donuts. Each was dipped in sugar, powered sugar, or cinnamon and sugar. Hurray for Nancy's World Famous Donuts!

The day continued with a tour of the first Indiana Capitol Building. The tour guide explained how the building was constructed and gave information about how the state government was formed. The preservation of the capitol building is a treasure that will be enjoyed by many generations in the future.

The group walked across the street to tour Gen. Hendricks Headquarters which is furnished with furniture and articles from the 1800's. Behind the house was a beautiful garden that was just beginning to flourish and an outhouse up on the hill. The tour was informative and made one appreciate how the early settlers lived.

The walking tours were followed by a visit to Zimmerman's Art Glass Factory. Kerry Zimmerman learned the art of making handmade pieces of glass as a child and today he is the third generation to continue the art of glassmaking. He demonstrated his skill by making a glass basket which amazed those who were present.

As another day came to a close the club gathered at a small clapboard church that was built before the State Park was established. The club furnished chicken and a wide variety of sides were brought by the great cooks in the club. As usual all enjoyed the food and fellowship.

Sunday began with another continental breakfast and all attendees were invited to attend a worship service at the Potato Run Church. What a friendly congregation. They invited all of the club to a chili lunch at the church. What a great way to end an enjoyable rally.

Don't forget the next rally is at the Tilmann Ranch south of Elkhart, on May 22 to May 24. This pre-rally is bound to be another great time.

Hoosier Cruisers Invade Georgia

Great turnout for the Hoosier Cruisers -- 22 units in attendance. We had a fun-filled time. A call went out for volunteers and in typical HC style, a lot of members stepped up to help . We had an impromptu dinner get-together one night and a couple "Happy Hours". Enjoyed the entertainment - Pianist and his band/singers, Lori Morgan, and a side-spliting comedian -Jeanne Robertson, a "must see". We arrived early and enjoyed visiting the Perry, GA area. Visited the Andersonville Historial National Park, Prison & Museum and Plains, GA - President Jimmy Carter's hometown. Six coaches continued the fun at Post Perry Rally in Nashville, TN. Visted downtown Nashville area - Farmers Market, Music Row, Honky Tonks, enjoyed really good BBQ and went to Grand Ole Opry. Cassie & I have really enjoyed our time with Hoosier Cruisers and thanks to all attendees for making the Rally such an enjoyable and a memorable experience.

Something for Everyone at the April/May Rally 2011

The Wessel’s and the Ruster’s have planned a rally that should appeal to everyone whether you are new members or seasoned veteran members. For those who enjoy learning about history there is a tour that will immerse you in the culture and politics of the period when Indiana was a fledgling state. The community of Corydon respects the events from the past and has worked to maintain this heritage. Friday morning members may take a tour of Indiana’s First State Capital (circa 1816-1825) and Governor Hendricks Headquarters, a two story federal style brick building was built in 1817.

On Friday, a tour of the Zimmerman Art Factory is planned. It is a unique place to visit where Kerry Zimmerman continues the family tradition of making handcrafted items made of glass. Products made in the factory include 110 different pieces of art like paperweights, fruit and holiday ornaments. While at the Visitors Center the rally masters marveled at the walking stick that was made from glass. Be prepared to be amazed at the variety of items available at this one of a kind factory.

For those who enjoy a fun loving challenge, one can test their skills at the 18 hole miniature golf course. But, this is no ordinary golf course; Golf Shores provides a unique golfing experience indoors. The interior has been painted by local artists and is illuminated by black lights. Whoa, this experience should give you something interesting to add to any conversation with your friends.

Everyone enjoys food and each member will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy fine food cuisine as well as food prepared by the great cooks in the club. As you arrive on Thursday, members may choose to eat at the Overlook Restaurant which has beautiful views of the Ohio River. Each morning the rally masters and asst. rally masters will provide coffee and a continental breakfast. Nancy Ruster, for one breakfast will provide her “world famous” fresh donuts. Another breakfast will include muffins from the Leavenworth General Store. The general store is an interesting stop. It even has an old button making machine.

On Friday, members may indulge in excellent food at Magdalena’s Restaurant. A buffet will be provided with two main dishes, vegetables, salad, desert, and beverages. The restaurant has maintained the historic charm of the area with leaded windows. One of the first hand dug wells in Corydon is located in the restaurant. Following the meal a business meeting will be held. You do not have to eat dinner at the restaurant to attend the meeting. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

For the aspiring chefs in the club, you will have an opportunity to attend a cooking class at the Stone Mountain Winery. This award winning winery is situated on 35 acres of land. The property has 100 apple trees, unique heirloom vegetables, herbs, and plants. The bed and breakfast cottage was built in the 1920’s and is a great location for the fourth winery in Harrison County. You won’t want to miss this experience.

A carry-in dinner is planned for Saturday in an old white clapboard church. The meat dish will be provided by the club and the sides will be provided by members. The Hoosier Cruisers have some excellent cooks and after each carry-in you always hear members exclaim, “I loved your dish, I just have to have that recipe.”

The rally will conclude on Sunday with a church service lead by a local itinerant pastor in the same little white church at 10:30 a.m. The pastor was pleased that his congregation would increase several fold on that Sunday.

Winter Gathering at Sun' N Fun

The Hahn's made arrangements for a luncheon at Boon Docks. Approximately 50 people attended theevent and as usual it was a great success as Hoosier Cruiser members renewed friendships after a few months of traveling.

You can see from the pictures that all enjoyed the food and fellowship. If you were unable to attend, mark your calendar next year for a gathering which will probably be held during the week of Valentine's Day.

Camping Reservations for April/May Rally

Even with the best laid plans sometimes things go awry. Here is an update on making your reservations for the April/May Rally. The Indiana State Parks camping reservation system will be down from February 8th until February 27th. It is being improved. Therefore you will need to make your reservation prior to the eight or after the 27th. Your rally masters were not aware of this "wrinkle" until just recently. Be patient; you can still make your reservations the end of February.

The rally registration form is in the process of being completed as the planned activities are finalized. Watch for your newsletter and continue following the blog.

Have you ever taken a trip to the state capital? Sure you have, but have you visited the first Indiana Capital? Well, you will have that opportunity if you attend the first rally in 2011 by traveling to Corydon, Indiana. The rally will begin April 28th, and ends May 1st and will be held at O’Bannon Woods State Park.

Hoosier Cruisers bound for Perry

There are a number of our members headed to Perry Georgia for the FMCA International Rally in March. Exec. V.P. Steve Lisle is attempting to organize our attendees so that as many as possible can park together. There may be an opportunity to meet at a campground the day before but details are still up in the air. First priority is that everyone enter the rally grounds on the same day. Christmas Dinners

There were two terrific Christmas dinners this year. Once again the Anderson In. dinner arranged by Ernie and Jane Clashman was well attended with 40 members enjoying fellowship and an opportunity to catch up with each other. Many are headed to warmer locals and are anxious to get to their winter relief zones. A new dinner this year in the northern area in Goshen In. arranged by Connie and Harry DeCausmaker, Betty and Doug Tilmann and Janice and Dick Shumaker was a tremendous success. Thirty-two enjoyed a great meal and Connie provided cupcakes and door prizes for all attendees. Jon Walker, Great Lakes Area national V.P., presented an update during the dinner on some of the changes going on in FMCA. I'm sure both dinners will be highly anticipated next year.

Floyd Harding Died Suddenly in September

Pat Harding notified the Hoosier Cruisers that her husband died suddenly in September. He was playing a game of basketball which he did weekly when he decided to sit the second game out. He passed out on the bench and could not be revived.

Mabel Heath in the News

Mabel Heath, Hoosier Cruiser member, made the news in The Herald Bulletin. She was recognized as the office manager for the Devonshire Veterinarian Clinic in Anderson, IN. She said, "the clinic is committed to doing the best in can for ints clients. They use state-of-the-art equipment and are constantly looking to the future in techniques."

Fun in Frankfort

Who would have guessed that Frankfort, IN, is the new entertainment capital in Indiana. Hoosier Cruisers arrived on Thursday at the Broadview Campground. By 12:30 members were already lining up to tour the National Cigar Factory which is one of only four remaining cigar factories in the United States. The factory began operation in 1917 and many of the machines looked as though they were original. Tobacco is purchased from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Employees make a wide variety of cigars including "stogies" which were popular during the Civil War. It was great tour.

On Friday, we all realized that there was no way that you could do everything that was available. In the morning members brought in items that they no longer needed which were swapped with other members. This was followed with a craft workshop that turned everyday soda can tabs into jewelry or decorative bands.

Later some of the members toured the Tech Group which is a high tech factory that make a variety of items including parts for batteries. Other members chose to visit a auto museum that had showcased the progress of the auto industry. Cars that were on display included Dusenburgs, a Cord, Packards, a Tucker, a T-bird, and a Mustang.

In the evening, we toured Wesley Manor, had an excellent meal, and were entertained by the "String-alongs". Check out the previous article with the lyrics for "Rovin' in My Old RV" written by Lowell H. Brown. There is also a video clip to view which includes their music.

Saturday, began with a pitch-in breakfast, but by 9:30 we were on the road again to Dull's Christmas Tree farm. The owners explained the process of growing trees to be purchased for the holiday season. They also have restored log cabins. One is used as a "bed and breakfast". It had the most unique shower that was an artificial falls that tumbled over a rock ledge. Fascinating!

Beth and Bruce Bailey planned a hotdog roast at the Dorsey farm. Hoosier Cruisers enjoyed cooking their hotdog over an open fire. The lunch also included potato salad, lemonade, iced tea, and pumpkin pie. What a feast!

A cake was also provided by Rick and Sandy Hahn recognizing the efforts of Greg and Bettie Wessel. It was delicious.

For the adventurous members, several were treated with a ride in a combine. For us city slickers this was a new experience and all were impressed with the great strides made in farming. Agriculture is a high tech business today.

And if we had not had enough exciting experiences, we had one more opportunity. Dr. John Saalwaechter flew his Bonanza plane to the Frankfort airport and treated several Hoosier Cruisers to flights over the surrounding area including the campground where we were camping.

The day ended at Camp Cullom with an observatory program.

Sunday, members gathered for donuts and a church service provided by Lowell Brown. He provided a message about "Love" that was uplifting.

We were sad to realize that the camping season for 2010 had ended, but were excited about the upcoming season in 2011. Make sure that you check the blog for updated information during the winter months.

I bought myself a set of maps, The latest campground guide. With storage space stuffed to the roof, My soul-mate at my side, I have my G P S turned on. There's many a sight to see. And you can find me rovin' in my old RV.

I pulled into a camping ground One darek and stormy night. The winds wer really kick-in' up, The lightnin' flashin' bright. When come the dawn , it's raning yet. I'm soaked as you can see I smell, but I'm still rovin' in my old RV.

I'm headin' for the mountain tops, A stompin' on the gas To make the steep and curvy grade, Then whizzin' thru the pass. A chuggin' and a smokin', Cars are linin' up, I see So slowly I'm a rovin' in my old RV.

I joined that Hoosier Cruisers band Who come from near and far. Arriving in those monstrous rigs pushed by a tiny car. They have a yen for 4 H grounds, Pitch-ins and sights to see. And then they go off rovin' in their old RVs.

There'll come a time when I'll be found A drivin' 'round the bend. Some folks are sayin' that will be My ever livin' end. If so, my good and faithful friends, Now just you come to see; You'll find me up there rovin' in my old RV.

Frolicking Fun at the Elkhart Fairgrounds

Hoosier Crusier members enjoyed food and activities planned by the Tilmanns, Schumakers and Wilts. The rally began on Thursday. There were 39 coaches including four coaches who had recently joined the Hoosier Cruisers. The organizers made sure that we would have a great time by including "happy hours" held around tables that had been decorated in fall colors including many quilts. It was quite festive.

In the evening everyone enjoyed the food provided by members at a pitch-in dinner. No one left hungry.

During the rally, the Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale was in full swing. The auctions and booths raise money for persons suffering from natural disasters. Members purchased and sampled home made baked goods, attended auctions including a quilt auction that featured several beautiful handmade quilts. Other auctions included antiques and children's items. For those interested in crafts, an entire building showcased items from all over the world. There was certainly something of interest for everyone.

Friday evening several members savored a delicious "haystack supper". It was similar to a taco salad on a plate. Your meal was made as you walked along the serving line selecting the topping that you wanted. It was scrumptious.

Have you ever been to a hay auction? Well those that attended had an opportunity to check out an auction where local farmers bring their hay to be sold. The seller also is typically responsible for delivering the hay. We were all surprised how quickly the sales were completed.

On Saturday after enjoying all activities at the fairgrounds we traveled to the Old Bag Factory where we were served a delicious meal. Following the meal, arrangements had been made for us all to be entertained by a "sweet adeline" group. The songs were fun and some of the lyrics had been changed which made the crowd laugh. One song poked fun at "blondes". The vocalist crooned that she didn't know how to spell VW, but it didn't make any difference because she drove a Porche.

The rally ended on Sunday with a meaningful message provided by Alan Schmiedt. He provided one of his "short and shallow" talks that always gives you something to think about on your way home.

As people began to leave, they were already talking about the next rally. If you missed this one make sure that you join your friends at the next rally at Broadview Lake Campground.

Colfax/Frankfort Rally - October 7-10, 2010

From Jct. of I-65 and Hwy 28 (exit 158) go west 2.5 miles on 28 to Hwy 52. Turn left (south) on 52 for 3.1 miles to Broadview.

We will start on Thursday with a 1:00 p.m. tour of the National Cigar Factory in Frankfort for those who can arrive early. It is one of only 5 cigar factories left in the United States.

Friday morning after the pitch-in breakfast, Jane Clashman will be teaching us how to make bookmarks from pull tabs. The same technique can be used for hat bands and other items. Everyone please bring your pop can pull tabs.

We will also be having a swap meet/garage sale Friday morning. Bring all those items you have not used all season and see if someone else would like to haul them around next season. There will be space available for swapping RV related items or selling your handmade crafts or just cleaning out a closet. Maybe you traded coaches and now your tire covers do not fit. You might find someone looking for that very size. Maybe you love to quilt but cannot use 10 quilts in a 1-bedroom RV. Bring it along with a price attached and we will see what happens. Maybe you read a book or built a jigsaw puzzle last winter and would like to trade for a different one for this winter?

Friday afternoon we have optional tours planned. Tech Group (which makes plastic parts such as the cases for ChapStick) factory tour or the Clinton County Historical Museum. You might like to make a quick stop at Zachary’s (formerly Peter Paul Mounds) outlet store. Then we will regroup at Wesley Manor for a brief tour and dinner. The String-A-Longs of Wesley Manor will entertain after dinner.

Saturday after the pitch-in breakfast, we will go to Dull’s Christmas Tree Farm near Mechanicsburg. In addition to Christmas trees, they have a restored barn. After a “Frankfort Hot Dog” roast we will tour the Dorsey Grain Farm where, in addition to corn and beans, they raise giant pumpkins. (Yes, the high school mascot really is a Hot Dog). Saturday night after dinner on your own we will view the stars at Prairie Grass Observatory. A chili supper fund raiser is being held at Camp Cullom, site of the observatory, or several restaurants are available in Frankfort.

Great Time at August Rally

The Rally in Clinton was a rousing success. On Saturday there were 25 coaches and 56 people. This included two 1st timers and two guests. Thursday, 30 enjoyed a very good dinner at the Tuscany Steak House in Paris, Ill.

Friday, members were split into two groups and toured Elanco where they developed a micro organism into usable food for farm animals. The other group visited Kleptz's classic and vintage auto and bikes chain saws etc. David Kleptz was able to describe the mechanical aspects of each vehicle and provide history on some.

Friday evening, Lois Ann, served her famous Pork BBQ, slaw, chips and Marybelle's baked beans.

Saturday, some of the ladies drove to Paris to take a quilt tour. Approx 40 drove to the Don Smith complex to view his five barns of race cars vintage auto 500 mile race memorabilia and walls covered with pictures of Larry Bird, AJ Foyt,Tony Hulman and many other dignitaries.

The afternoon many visited Lookout Farm to see how Alpaca's are raised and bred. Very interesting and informative.

Sat evening a catered dinner of Beef Burgundy, green beans, a delicious salad and two kinds of cake for desert.

As you can see there was lots of fun and attendees had a great time!

Redmond Oregon or Bust

We made it! The Wessels, Hahns and Schmiedts entered the gates together and were camped in the same location. The scenery is outstanding and there is plenty of parking. The facilities are top notch. You can see that the Schmiedts were hard at work watching the rest of us set up.

To kick off the rally we all had dinner together. One thing that Hoosier Cruisers do well is have get-togethers. We have also run into the Boyers and Ed Cassada.

Bettie is representing the club at the FMCA meetings and the rest of us are enjoying the seminars/activities. Monday night we viewed the "Long, Long, Trailer". What Fun! Tuesday night we were entertained by Debbie Reynolds.

The rally is sure to be another exciting event.

Lowell E. Hardacre Will Be Missed

Lowell E. Hardacre, 77, of Anderson, died at his residence on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Lowell had served as National Director several times for the Hoosier Cruisers. Members of the Hoosier Cruisers want to extend their heartfelt sympathies to Jerry and Carol Hardacre, and family.

They have planned a variety of activities that should be of interest to all who attend. Some of the activities include a tour of Klelptz Vintage Cars and Memorabilia, a tour of Elanco Products Division of Eli Lilly and a tour of The Clabber Girl Museum. You can also count of good food. July Rally Roaring Success

Jack and Mae Stevens planned an excellent rally that was enticing to all who attended. They had activities for senior members and for grandchildren who attended. The coaches began to roll in on Wednesday and continued through Friday. The first scheduled activity was a visit to the Ropkey Armour Museum. This is a private collection of equipment and items used in WWI through present day. Many of the members who have served in the armed services remembered many of the artifacts displayed.

The Tilmann grandsons were fascinated with the tanks and were allowed to climb in and experience what it was like to be inside a real armored vehicle.

Friday afternoon, members took a walking tour of the historic homes in Crawfordsville. We toured the Wabash College President's home which was built in the 1800's.

Our tour guide also shared information about the exploits of Lew Wallace who served as a U.S. soldier and a General in the Civil War. He later became a lawyer who prosecuted the conspirators in the Lincoln assassination. He was the U.S Minister to the Ottoman Empire, but is probably best know as the author of Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Lew Wallace had a study built where he wrote and studied. It was interesting that originally the structure had a moat around it where Lew would often go fishing from the windows in the basement.

That evening we shared food at a carry-in. And as usual the food was outstanding. No one went back to their coach hungry.

The next day, members traveled into Crawfordsville to tour the first and only rotary jail that is still operational. The entire circular structure of cells rotates on a column. When it was first opened there was only one door into the cells. The cells were rotated to allow admittance or exit by the prisoners. The front of the jail was the home of the sheriff.

Saturday afternoon, several members went tubing down Sugar Creek. What a beautiful day! The sun was out and the creek was swift. No one had to get out and walk.

The day ended with a excellent meal at the Elks Club where we were treated to catered dinner what was enjoyed by all. Food and fellowship, what could be better.

You know that a rallly is a success when the rally masters are still smiling at the end of the weekend. Mae and Jack extended their sincere appreciation to all those members who helped orchestrate a rally full of activities and fun.

It's Not Too Late for a Fantastic Rally

Mae and Jack Stevens have planned a super rally in Crawfordsville. This event will be held at the Sugar Creek Campground. Enjoy the shade of the big trees, sipping ice tea, and visiting with friends.

On Friday, members have an opportunity to visit the Ropkey Armor Museum which is one of the largest and finest collections of U.S. tactical military vehicles in the country. Fred Ropkey has restored tanks from W.W. I through the Iraq War, as well as Jeeps, motorcycles, and airplanes. You will see a jet that was designed to take off and land both vertically and horizontally. It is the only one in existence and was used by Neil Armstrong. Next is the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum, a National Historic Landmark dedicated to celebrating the legacy of Lew Wallace, Civil War Major General, diplomat, inventor, and world-renowned author of "Ben-Hur". Yes, Charlton Heston has been here!

Saturday, attendees can see the Rotary Jail Museum, built in 1882 and used until 1973. Unbelieveable! You gotta see it!! It was the first of nine rotary jails in the U.S. and is currently the only one in operating condition.

Other options for the afternoons are canoeing and kayaking down Sugar Creek to Shades or Turkey Run State Park. Also available is the 4 1/4 mile Sugar Creek Trail for walking or biking on the west side of town. Shades State Park and Pines Hills Nature Preserve (the first dedicated nature preserve in the state and the most highly patronized) are not far. There are three or four golf courses in the country..........you may want to bring your clubs. The Mid'town Museum of Native Cultures just up the road on US 136....one lady's collection....she loves her hobby. And for those railroad buffs, the Linden Depot Museum, built in 1907, is the oldest junction depot in Indiana. It has been restored to the 1950's era of railroading with numerous artifacts on display.

Darke County Rally

The National RV Great Lakers invited members of the Hoosier Cruisers to attend a rally in Darke County, Ohio. Rally Masters Dennis and Betty Behnken had planned a great rally that included a factory tour of the Kitchen Aid plant and the Kitchen Aid store. During the tour attendees saw mixers being assembled which are available in over 50 colors. The tour guides were knowledgeable and answered all questions. Great tour!

At the store attendees purchased appliances and accessories which were good buys. But the best part was making apple dumplings that were baked by the instructors. Later members returned for their dessert which included a scoop of ice cream. Smiles were present on everybody's face as they enjoyed their afternoon treat.

On Friday, participants visited the Garst Museum which includes several exhibits: Annie Oakley, Lowell Thomas, Military History, and American Indians. The docents provided much information about each display and were present to answer questions. Everyone left a little more enlightened.

On Saturday, campers were given the freedom to choose what adventure they wanted to pursue. Bettie and I chose to take part of the Quilt Barn Tour which is located in Miami County. An artist from Mexico painted quilt blocks on over 50 barns in the area. We were fascinated with this project which is available to anyone who wants to take a scenic drive.

Hoosier Cruisers appreciated the hospitality that was extended by the National RV Great Lakers. The members were warm and included everyone in the activities that were planned. This was evident during the catered dinner where everyone fellowshiped together.

Thanks go to Dennis & Betty Behnken, Terry & Joan Swank who went out of their way to make this rally a success for their members and guests. Thank you!

Bremen Rally Huge Success

The fun filled June Rally was held due to the efforts of Denny and Linda Filson, and Steve and Cassie Lisle. The well attended rally was held in Bremen, IN, at Pla-More Campground. The first scheduled tour was of the Newmar Factory. Members were treated to a detailed description of how motorhomes are made in the Nappanee plant. They were shown how coaches were built from the frame up including construction and painting.

It was impressive!

On Saturday, rally goers traveled to the Martin Buggy Shop where they received a tour of the shop and a buggy ride. For the woodworkers the buggy shop was followed by a visit to Mint City Millworks where everyone learned how grandfather clocks are made.

The day ended with an authentic Amish Dinner. WOW, what great food. No one left the table hungry after a family style dinner that ended with homemade desserts.

As the coaches left everyone offered their appreciation for a job well done in creating a fun filled rally. Thanks!

GLASS 2010

The Hoosier Cruisers arrived on the Wednesday prior to the beginning of the rally. Arriving the day before was great because there was less traffic. The club was placed in a great area for camping which allowed members to participate in "happy hours", and share their experiences while at the rally. Doug Tilmann even arranged for the club members to be entertained at their sites. As you can see the ladies were having a great time.

The GLASS Rally provided a variety of seminars from jewelry making to maintenance sessions that were of interest to the members. Several vendors were there to sell there items and services. Many members had their coaches washed and waxed which made them look like new.

On Saturday, the Hoosier Cruisers served the evening meal to over 600 attendees. Over 50 HC men and women participated in this event. Not only is it an opportunity to provide service, but they had a good time doing it.

The evening entertainment include a parade of chapters. Participants were treated to a variety of entertainers who provided foot-tapping music and humorous jokes that kept the audience laughing.

The club also participated in the Chapter Fair where the club's activities and events were showcased. During the rally FMCA members joined the HC Chapter.

This rally was truly an enjoyable experience that left those attending wanting more. Don't forget to mark your calendar for next year's GLASS Rally which will be held the last weekend in in May.

GLASS Pre-rally

WOW, what a pre-rally. Attending members were given royal hospitality by Betty and Doug Tilmann. With the able assistance of the Schumakers and the Wilts, attendees had a rally packed full of activities. Doug assisted in parking the coaches and all went well even though they had received several inches of rain a few nights before. As you can see their property provided a beautiful setting for evening campfires, grilled hamburgers and a pitch-in chili supper. Betty even took lemonade to campers at their coaches. Now that's service.

The chili was heated in a cauldron over the campfire. Everyone brought their own secret recipe of chili, and it was all mixed together for a brew that was delicious. In addition to fun on grounds, a tour was taken that allowed members to view a repair shop that reconstructs coaches that have had a fire or extensive body damage. It was amazing how the shop was able to make old coaches look like new.

As a final meal together the group traveled to "Between the Buns" which is a restaurant/bar that has good food and great live entertainment. The pre-rally was a great lead-in to the GLASS Rally that was held in Berrien Springs. The Hoosier Cruisers want to thank the Tilmanns for their great hospitality and hard work.

Exciting Times at the May Rally

Approximately 30 coaches began to arrive on Wednesday at the scenic West Boggs Campground. The Rally Masters Bettie and Greg Wessel, and Assistant Rally Masters, Mable and Bob Heath were kept busy directing members to their assigned sites. Some adjustments had to be made due to the rolling terrain of southern Indiana. Thursday ended with a roaring campfire where members shares stories about their winter experiences.

The next morning everyone was up bright and early to travel to Jasper. The first stop was the Jasper Engine Plant where engine, transmissions, and marine equipment is rebuilt. We walked around the plant for over an hour and a half. Dirty engines are brought in to the plant where they are rebuilt to factory or better standards.

The authentic department rebuilds engines that are no longer in production like model A Fords or engines that were used in hot rods.

Jasper Engines has even designed and produced a transmission that is used in may NASCAR cars today.

Those who took the tour learned much about the rebuilding of engines and transmissions. The workers were proud of their product and the plant was very clean and well run. We had to smile when we saw how they transport parts in this very high tech plant. Note the picture of the cart attached to a scooter.

After leaving the plant we traveled to Huntingburg where some Hoosier Cruisers did some shopping and others enjoyed lunch at a quaint restaurant.

The last stop was at Dr. Ted's Marvelous Musical Museum. What fun we were given the grand tour of nickelodeons, player pianos, calliopes, and various other music boxes. One even played the "chicken dance", which was enjoyed by the members.

Friday concluded with a delicious buffet at Stoll's Amish Restaurant. The food was excellent and it was a great way to end the day.

The next day attendees were treated to a pitch-in breakfast. One thing for sure the club has very good cooks. You can see from the smiles that the food was really enjoyed.

After breakfast members caravanned to West Baden to take a walking tour of the resort that became famous for its health springs. The resort has been restored to its former glory. When it opened it had the largest dome up until the Astrodome was built. Today you can tour the grounds and buildings of the West Baden Hotel, and view the architectural details that made the "eighth wonder of the world".

The tour began in the lobby of the hotel and which opened into the domed area. When the owner wanted a large dome he was told it could not be done until he met a young architect who had also designed bridges. It was a success and a marvel for the times. After leaving the atrium members walked through the gardens and visited the buildings where the health springs had been located.

The next stop for Saturday was at the train depot. Have you ever traveled on a vintage train? That's what the attendees were treated to... a nice relaxing train ride through the Hoosier National Forest.

At the end of the day, all Hoosier Cruisers gathered at the activity center for a chili supper prepared by Mable Heath, Sandy Hahn, and Bettie Wessel. The chili super included chili, salad, and homemade cookies. Delicious!

The rally ended with a church service and hymns lead by Bruce Bailey. As the coaches were packed and the last goodbyes were said, people were already getting ready for the next rally in Plymouth, IN.

Embrace the Pace - June Rally

The bustling downtown of Nappanee Indiana is a busy gateway to Amish Country with friendly people, an on the go RV industry, and underneath it all, the quiet rhythms of Amish life. From motorcoaches, to buggies and sleighs, join us for a great weekend June 10-12, 2010. Denny and Linda Filson with the help of Steve and Cassie Lisle have put together a fun filled and educational weekend that we believe all will enjoy.

Members arriving on Thursday will enjoy leisure time to visit with friends. No dinner is scheduled however we suspect many will group together and go out to eat.

Friday morning we will enjoy a carry in of breakfast dishes, fruit and pastries. After breakfast we will be touring Precision Painting, a short drive away in Bremen. They specialize in full body painting, detailing, and interior renovations of coaches. It is a nationally advertised and known business. Open toed shoes are not allowed in their factory. In the afternoon we have a chance to watch a motorcoach be born from the first nail to the last as we tour the Newmar factory in Nappanee. Again, no open toed shoed are allowed. Friday evening dinner will be catered in the pavilion and will consist of lasagna, chicken alfredo, salad, a vegetable, breadsticks, and cheesecake with tea and lemonade included. We will have a guest speaker following dinner who will share with us the heritage and history of the Nappanee area. Saturday morning we will gather at the pavilion for another pitch in breakfast with contributions of your choice. Juice and coffee will be provided. Following breakfast, we have a unique opportunity to tour Martin’s Buggy shop where the makings of an Amish buggy will be explained and you will watch Amish craftsmen at work building and restoring buggies and sleighs. An added attraction is a large building filled with these gleaming jewels ready to purchase. We will also make a stop at the Union Center Store which is an Amish owned general store specializing in archery, guns, fishing equipment, Coleman supplies, kitchenware, and bulk foods. The owner told us he repairs all types of guns from antique to present ones and will be happy to ship yours back to you should you need one repaired. Another stop will take us to Mint City Millwork where we will tour the shop of an Amish man who makes beautiful Grandfather Clocks. Saturday evening will conclude with a wonderful traditional Amish dinner at Mullett’s Family dining, both prepared and served by the Amish. You will not want to pass on this dinner! Sunday morning the Rally masters will provide rolls and donuts, coffee and juice and breakfast will be followed by a short church service. That will bring this exciting rally to an end with farewells, wishes for safe travels, and anticipation as we look forward to our next time together.

Angel Bus

Jerry Hardacre shared the following information about an opportunity for persons who have a coach to help others. Angel Bus is an organization that helps people who have a medical condition and limited resources to get to a distant facility for specialized medical care. For many of these folks, a motor home is the ideal mode

to make this trip. The purpose of Angel Bus is to identify these people and put them together with volunteer motor home owner/drivers who can provide the needed transportation.

There are three different organizations involved. They are the Angel Bus itself, the FMCA Angel Bus chapter, and the Angel Bus Support Group.The actual missions (trips) are run by Angel Bus. They ensure that the passengers actually need the mission, that their condition will not be worsened by it, and that the driver is qualified. Angel Bus actually plans the mission and informs everyone involved as to the schedule. The Angel Bus chapter will be an FMCA social chapter that is part of the International Area. Rallies and meetings will be held where member can share their experiences and have a good time. In addition to having fun and meeting folks who have a common interest, they will also have a mission of recruiting new motor home owners for both Angel Bus and the chapter. Anyone is welcome to join any, or all, of these three groups.

Angel Bus started in 2000 and regularly conducted missions, where bus conversion owners provided transportation for people who had serious medical problems and had to get to a distant hospital or get back home. Mercy Medical Airlift currently is managing missions and has established a web site for Angel Bus at http://www.angel-bus.org/. If you have any interest in running a mission you should check out
the "Volunteer Handbook" section on the site. It should answer most of your questions.

SOME KEY POINTS

Angel Bus volunteer drivers only provide transportation, not food or medical assistance.
Most passengers, including all children, will be accompanied by an assistant (parent).
Each volunteer will be thoroughly briefed on each mission before committing to it.
Each volunteer has the right to refuse any mission for any (or no) reason.
Trips more than 500 miles are usually arranged in a relay with additional volunteers.
Most volunteers will be offered about one mission a year unless they ask for more.
In most cases, each mission will begin or end near the volunteer's home.
Angel Bus and FMCA are not affiliated with each other.
You must be an FMCA member to belong to the chapter.
Chapter membership does not require that you are an Angel Bus volunteer.
Angel Bus is a 501(C)(3) charity and all expenses are tax deductible.
By joining Angel Bus, you too can experience the personal satisfaction of knowing that you helped make a significant difference in someone's life.

GLASS Pre-Rally at the "Tilmann Ranch"

Doug Tilmann and Dick Shumaker have put together a "Pre-Rally", prior to the GLASS Rally, at the home of Doug, Betty and Dorothy Tilmann beginning on Sunday May 23rd. Their place is located at: 58965 County Road One, Elkhart, IN, 46517 (GPS coordinates - North 41o 38'18.24" West 86o 02'43.31). You can arrive any time you wish on Sunday or, if you wish you may arrive on Monday or Tuesday by prior arrangement.

The location that the Hoosier Cruisers will gather on Wednesday morning of the 26th (to caravan into the GLASS Rally) is a forty minute drive. There is room at the Timanns' to park twenty-five plus coaches so space will be a problem. It will be dry camping so arrive with full fresh water and empty waste water tanks and fuel for your generators. If you need it, you will be able to top off with fresh water when you depart. Also if you feel the need to dump, arrangements have been made for you to dump your waste water at a nearby location if you feel the need to arrive at GLASS "full and empty".

A tour of a nearby RV repair facility is on tap for Monday and an expedition to the Shipshewana Flea Market is scheduled for Tuesday plus whatever the Tilmanns and the Shumakers might dream up in the meantime. The balance of the time will be spent at campfires, Happy Hours, yakking with fellow "Cruisers" and watching the birds tweet and the bunny rabbits hop around the Tilmann joint.

Breakfasts and lunches will be on your own. There will be a pot luck Sunday night so bring a dish to pass. Betty and Janice are conjuring up a "Caldron of Chile" dinner on Monday night so everyone is requested to arrive with a dish of chili to contribute to the "Caldron" and a dessert to share. Tuesday will be a LEO (Let's Eat Out) at a local joint. There is no charge for this "Pre-Rally" nor for any of the scheduled events.

National RV Great Lakers Invitation

The National RV Great Lakers have invited the Hoosier Cruisers to participate in their June Rally which will begin June 16th and end June 20th. It will be held at the Great Darke County Fairgrounds in Greenville, Ohio. This would be a great time to make new friends and increase your camping network.

Southern Vice President Resigns

Sarasota Dinner

The dinner at Fun 'N Sun was a huge success. There were 45 members in attendance who had traveled from all over the state of Florida to participate in this gathering. The club's thanks go to Sandy and Rick Hahn, and Jane and Ernie Clashman for organizing this event which went off without a hitch. It was great to visit with friends both new and old. Along with the great fellowship members enjoyed a super seafood luncheon buffet. If you are in the area next year, make sure that you plan to attend this fun get-together.

Dorothy Casada Will Be Missed

Dorothy L. (Ekvall) Casada will be missed by the Hoosier Cruisers. Dorothy and her husband Ed were charter members and instrumental in the formation of the club.

Dorothy L. Casada (nee Ekvall), age 85, of Highland, formerly of Oshkosh, WI, passed away January 29, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Ed of 64 years. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, February 1, 2010 from 4:00- 7:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN. The May Rally has a little something for everyone. The rally masters and assistant rally masters have planned a variety of activities in a setting that is sure to please Hoosier Cruiser campers. The rally will be located at West Boggs in Loogootee, IN. Many of the campsites are located right on the lakes. Each site will have electricity and water. The dump station is located nearby in the park. The campground has reserved a shelter that will be available to us for the entire weekend. French Lick Here We Come!

It's never too early to plan ahead. Bettie and I have scoped out southern Indiana for interesting and fun places to visit. The May Rally is planned for April 29th through May 2nd. These dates were selected to avoid conflicts with Mother's Day and the GLASS Rally. We hope that the weather will cooperate with this decision.

So where are we going......How about the French Lick area? Have you ever visited West Baden, the hotel and casino, since it was renovated? This is a beautiful area that contains unique architecture. During the rally members will have an opportunity to take a guided walking tour and ride on a train of restored train cars.

So you want more? We also will be visiting Jasper, IN. What's in Jasper? There is the Jasper engine plant where engines are rebuilt, and we will be touring the plant. What else? For the history buffs, the Dubois County Museum can be toured for a donation to the museum. Bettie and I were fascinated in the displays. For example they have a saw mill exhibit from the early 1900's. They also had this unique tricycle for two.

Arrangements have also been made to visit Dr. Ted's Musical Marvels. This attraction houses an eclectic collection of mechanical musical intruments that includes nickelodeons, music boxes, and player pianos. Great Fun!

Okay, so where are we going to stay? Plans have been made to stay at the West Boggs County Campground. This is a lovely campground with many of the sites located right on the lake. Yes, you will be able to say that you stayed on lake front property.

Oh, one last thing. For those of you who come for the food, we will be eating at Stoll's Lakeview Restaurant where we will enjoy a buffet of amish food. We have a private room and will have a business meeting following dinner.

So, mark you calendars for a rally that you won't want to miss.

39 Members Attended Christmas Dinner in Anderson

The Hoosier Cruisers met at Ryan's in Anderson, IN, for a Christmas dinner. The best part of the evening was the fellowship. The longer we were there the louder we became. I'm sure that the other people in the restaurant wondered what was going on with all the laughter.

The food was great, but all would agree that sharing our plans for future trips and plans for the holidays was the best part.

Our thanks go to Jane and Ernie Clashman for arranging for the dinner. According to Ernie's offical count, 39 members were in attendance.

Fall Fun in Winchester

What a great rally. Frank and Jackie Anderson planned a rally that entertained all who attended. They organized a variety of activities and tours. Thursday, the coaches arrived at the Randolph County Fairgrounds and set up camp on the level campsites. Although it began to sprinkle, the weather didn't dampen the campers spirits during "happy hour".

That evening many of the members gathered at the Chicken Shack for dinner. The buffet included the restaurant's famous fried chicken which was delicious.

On Friday, attendees traveled to Ghyslain Chocolatier where artisians create one-of-a-kind hand painted masterpieces. Ghyslain has served as a pastry and executive chef in first class restaurants. Many of the members came back to camp with a variety of chocolates and pastries.

Hoosier Cruisers also had a chance to tour the Workhorse factory. This factory has made chassis for many of the motorhomes that are owned by members. It was amazing to see all the components that are necessary for a motorhome. At one point the guide showed where the partially assembled framed was flipped over for completion. The two tour leaders patiently answered all the questions that were asked.

Jackie and Frank had arranged a dinner at the Randolph Grille. The menu included a choice of steak, tilapia, salad, vegetable, and dessert. The service was excellent and all enjoyed their meals.

The next day Hoosier Cruisers traveled to the Cardinal Ethanol Plant which converts corn into ethanol and other products. Wearing hard hats and safety glasses the tour began. Jim Seifert explained the complex process and summarized some of the facts about the plant. The Cardinal Ethanol began production at its ethanol plant in East Central Indiana, near Union City on November 1, 2008. The plant is expected to use 36 million bushels of corn and produce 100 million gallons of ethanol, along with 320,000 tons of dried distillers grains. That's a lot of ethanol from corn.

The Winchester Speedway was highlight of the rally. This weekend was Old Timers Weekend at Winchester Speedway which featured six different divisions racing on Saturday and Sunday. Hank Lower became one of the oldest people to ever win a race at Winchester when the 72 year old won a heat race for the HOSS Winged Sprints, and the Vore’s Welding and Steel New Stars 20 was won by a person, Steve Vore that had never won a race in any type of car before.
The weekend also featured many vintage racecars that were displayed and most driven on the track to show them off to the fans. The cars featured many different types of cars including sprint cars, midgets and old stock cars. As you can see the Hoosier Cruisers had some die hard fans and braved the cold.

This was the last rally for the 2009 season, but rally masters are already working on next years rallies. Watch for your newsletter the beginning of May or follow the blog for the schedule of dates and places for next years rallies.

Recipes - Toffee Bars & Peanut Butter Fudge

Two recipes from Jane Clashman

TOFFEE BARS

1 pkg soda crackers
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup margarine
1 pkg choc chips
nuts, any variety

Place crackers on buttered foil on cookie sheet.
Bring brown sugar and margarine ( I used I Can't Believe Its Butter sticks)
to boil on stove, boil 3 to 4 minutes. Pour over crackers and place
crackers in 400 degree oven for 5 minutes or until bubbly.
Remove from oven and sprinkle choc. chips over hot cracker mixture.
When soft, spread over cracker mixture and sprinkle with nuts.
Cool and cut into pieces.

PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE

1 package creamy cream cheese frosting mix.
1 cup peanut butter, crunchy or plain.

Place in micro wave bowl and micro wave minute
or so. Long enough than you can stir them together.
Place in 8 x 8 pan, cool, cut and enjoy.

I have used more than a cup of peanut butter.
Try it and see.

35th Anniversary Rally, Sept. 2009

Thursday, the coaches began to roll in to the Delaware County Fairgrounds for the Hoosier Cruisers Rally that was celebrating 35 years as a chapter. The rally masters Bob and Pat Kern, and the assistant rally masters Van and Sandi Ewing planned a rally full of interesting tours and exciting activities. Those who arrived on Thursday were invited to tour the Academy of Model Aeronautics. It was amazing! Model aircraft from the 1900's up to present day models were displayed. It was fascinating to see the development of aircraft and to view the intricacies of the remote controlled planes and helicopters.

On Friday, members were treated to a tour of Minnetrista homes and gardens. It was a beautiful day to stroll through the lush flowers and native woodland plants.

Later in the day, members got to visit with Garfield and chuckled as they viewed some of the gags used in the Garfield comic strips.

Senor Van was the chef who prepared over 100 soft shell tacos to be enjoyed by those attending. They were delicious.

Following the dinner a business meeting was held where each family unit received a Hoosier Cruisers CD Photo Album. CD's are still available and can be received at any rally. Each person, also, received a commemorative pin celebrating the chapter's anniversary. Pins will also be available at future rallies. To end the evening a slide show was shared with members illustrating the fun times from the past, the humorous and sometimes silly happenings at rallies, and recent trips to locations in the great state of Indiana. The walk down memory lane was a pleasant remembrance of past times.

Saturday morning bright and early several members traveled north to Carollees' Herb Garden. A large variety of thematic gardens were toured. Carollee explained the uses and benefits of many of the plants and herbs.

For lunch Boy Scout Troop 22 had a pork roast where many Hoosier Cruisers enjoyed BBQ, vegetables and desert. It was a great meal.

Saturday evening all were treated to a catered dinner from Pete's Duck Inn and for desert the cake was cut for those who have a sweet tooth. It was an excellent meal topped off with some mystifying entertainment.

Wayne Hinkle fascinated the audience with several magic tricks that seemed impossible. He received several standing ovations following his illusions. Members agreed that what they observed was simply not possible.

At the conclusion of a super day packed with enjoyable activities, the Chadwells were the winners of the 50/50 drawing which was a cash prize of $100. All earnings from the 50/50 drawings will go to the Riley Childrens Hospital at the end of the year.

Attendees agreed that this rally was one to be remembered for many years.

Carmel Corn Recipe

CARAMEL CORN

1 8 oz pkg. puff corn (Mikesels or Seyfert)
2 sticks butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white karo
1 tsp baking soda

In sauce pan, heat butter, brown sugar and Karo.Cook at a rolling boil for 2 minutes. Add baking soda. It WILL foam. Pour over puffed corn. Mix well. Put on a bakingsheet and bake at 250 degrees for 30 - 40 minutes. Stir every 10- 12 minutes. Spread on wax paper to cool.

Having Fun in Warsaw

Alan and Cheryl Schmiedt along with their assistants, Carl and Suze Wilt, and Denny and Linda Filson organized a fun filled rally. The afternoon "Happy Hours", were well attended with excellent food prepared by the attendees.

One of the first tours was to Splendor Boats. At this plant members were shown the advantages of a twin hull design in fiberglass boats. The grandfather who had founded the company worked with his grandchildren who today run the daily operations.

As you can see the robots spray the materials needed to make the hull of a boat.

The Hoosier Cruisers caravanned to the little town of Silver Lake. They visited a carpenter shop where wooden utensils are made. Whetstone Woodenware is shipped all over the world. It was facinating to watch the items actually being made.

The members made another stop at the Lawrence Bell Museum which contained many items associated with the development of the helicopter and other aviation items.

On Saturday, rally goers participated in a scavenger hunt in the antique shops of Pierceton. What fun discovering treasures from the past. After returning to camp prizes were awarded with Pat Kerns winning a hardwood cutting board in the shape of the state of Indiana.

One of the first timers pitched right-in and scooped ice cream for those members with a "sweet tooth".

Not that it was rigged, but one of the Hardacres' granddaughters drew the winning ticket for the 50/50 drawing and guess who won? Jerry Hardacre.

The day ended with a storyteller sharing stories about people in Kosciusko County. Her tales kept the audience captivated.

If you missed this rally, don't miss another. The September rally will be held in Muncie beginning September 17th, and the club will be celebrating 35 years as an FMCA Chapter.

Governing Board Report

The meeting started at 9:00 AM with 422 out of 501 Chapters represented making up 84% of the voting members present, thus establishing a quorum.
After the minutes were approved, Treasurer Doug Key took the floor to give his report.
Last year FMCA has lost $907,000.00.
Commercial Revenues have been $5.7 million between 2005 and projected 2010.
In 2009 there has been a reduction of $6 million. It will take an increase of 160,000 new members to replace that revenue.
We have gone from 128,800 members in 2004 to the present membership as of July 30, 101,823 members. We have suffered a loss of 21% membership since 2004.
There are 3 major revenues:
1. FMC magazine advertising
2. Membership dues
3. Conventions

The magazine advertising has dropped $4.8 million over the last 4 years.
The Membership has dropped considerably, therefore creating a drop in revenue.
The convention attendance has dropped making it harder to cover the cost of fixed expenses for conventions.
Since June 30 of this year the bills have been paid out of our investment reserves.
There were 3 basic Budget Goals:
1. Protect FMCA Core Values (Family Fun)
2. Protect FMCA Core Benefits
3. Temporarily suspend costs/programs until FMCA’s financial condition recovers.
The Executive Board made several budget cut proposals for the governing board to vote on.
After much discussion, several proposals past, and several others were defeated.
The biggest item and most discussion involved Medex.

Medex has gone from $1.50 per member in 2004 to $4.75 per member in 2009. The Executive board felt this is too expensive for today’s economy. The total cost is $518,000.00 per year. The executive board gave Medex a notice of intent to terminate as of January 1, 2010. This would give the board a chance to re-negotiate the contract or search for another company. Medex is not an insurance company and is not under federal regulation to give financial reports to its customers.
Because Medex is the biggest new member recruiting benefit tool, the governing board voted 227 to 187 to keep Medex in the budget, therefore the payment will have to come from the reserve funds.
We ended up with a deficit of $900,000.00 which will have to come from the reserves.
It was moved that a committee of 5 (no more than 2 Executive Board members) and such committee shall present its findings to the Executive board meeting in November 2009 and those be brought to the Governing Board meeting in Redmond – August, 2010. Motion passed.
There was a proposal made to raise the Dues $5.00 from the present $35.00 to $40.00 per year. The motion past by a vote of 198 “for” and 175 “against.” Members need to be notified 120 days before the voting letter come to the National Directors for a vote. Personal Note: This puts even more emphases on each member to bring in new members. 65% of the new members are recruited by the membership. We need to increase our efforts and bring in more members.

Cheese Dip

2 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese (softened)

1/3 cup beer or nonalcoholic beer

1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix

2 cups (8 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese

Small pretzels

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, beer and dressing, mix until smooth. Stir in cheese. Serve with pretzels. Refrigerate leftovers. Yield 3 1/2 cups.

(This makes a thick dip)

Bowling Green Bash

What a great time! The Hoosier Cruiser volunteers met at the Petro2 truck stop and caravanned to the rally. The eight coaches were quickly parked and the adventure began.

The next day volunteers had time to explore the area. A Happy Hour was held at the Wessel's and over 40 Hoosier Cruisers attended. Members shared food and swapped stories. One could tell from the laughter that they were having a good time. In fact they had such a good time that a second Happy Hour was held on Monday and again over 40 persons came and partied.

Sunday, many members traveled to the historic downtown area for a welcome sponsored by the city. The main street was blocked off and live entertainment was provided. Bowling Green citizens went all out to make the rally attendees feel welcome.

Those Hoosier Cruisers who volunteered to work at the FMCA store were treated to a dinner in Anderson Arena. There were over 900 volunteers who were assigned a variety of responsibilities.

On Monday, members walked the grounds and had a meeting to discuss their responsibilities at the FMCA store.

Also on Monday, the National Officer Elections were held, and the following persons elected:

President: Charlie Schrenkel

Senior Vice Pres.: Judy Czarsty

Secretary: Joanne Durbin

Treasurer: Wil Young

All elected officers appeared enthusiastic. Although there are challenges ahead all were excited about the opportunities for FMCA in the future.

When Tuesday arrived the seminars were well attended. Members learned about their holding tanks, electrical systems, new places to visit, engine maintenance, technology advances, and a host of other interesting topics. There was something for everyone including the youth.

The entertainment was kicked off on Tuesday by the musical group 42Five. It was a quintet that performed a wide variety of music including funk, rock, jazz, and blues. The audience was amazed that no instruments were used, yet it sounded like their vocal renditions were backed up by a band. The members of the musical group made the sounds that were usually made by instruments. It was amazing!

The FMCA members enjoyed the musical renditions presented by Phil Dirt & the Dozers. Their music included songs from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. And many attending remembered hearing the Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, the Platters, and Righteous Brothers to name a few. They got the audience involved by clapping their hands and singing along with the songs. Those attending will not forget the group's song AARP which brought chuckles from the audience. As those attending left they left with smiles on their faces, fond memories in their hearts, and a song on their lips.

The Bowling Green Bash was a huge success with over 2400 coaches attending the rally. Well organized seminars, great entertainment, and FUN made this a rally to be remembered.

Grape Salad Recipe

Grape Salad (from Barb LeCount)

2# Green Grapes
2# Red Grapes
1 – 8 oz. Cream Cheese
1 C. Sour Cream
½ C. Sugar
1 t. Vanilla

Topping:
1 C. Brown Sugar
1 C. Chopped Walnuts or Pecans

Remove grapes from stems, rinse, drain, and pat dry. Cream together cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla. Add grapes and stir to coat. Pour into large bowl. Mix topping and pour over grapes mixture. Chill.

Having a Blast at the June Rally

The June Rally was began at the Howard County Fairgrounds and was planned and run by Dave and Carolyn Griffey, and their assistants Bob and Rose Gollner. The Hoosier Cruisers appreciate all their work in hosting a rally that went off without a hitch. Members were treated to a wide variety of activities and tours.

The women began their tours at the
Greentown Glass Museum. The Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company of Greentown produced holly amber glass and chocolate glass for only nine years (during the gas boom era), until 1903 when fire destroyed the factory. The members had an opportunity to view over 1,700 pieces highly prized glass.

You can see that they enjoyed the tour.

A second tour include a visit to the Opalescent Glass Factory. It was a fascinating tour where you watched hot glass being rolled into colorful sheets of designer glass, which are sent all over the world for use by stained glass artists. In has been in business since 1888, this is Kokomo's only gas boom era factory still in existence today.

Dave Griffey and Bob Gollner were both instrumental in the establishment of the Kokomo Automotive Museum. Dave and Bob provided a narative of the development of the auto industry in Kokomo which began in 1894. The museum's historic facades feature a 1930's gas station, the Haynes home, and a 1950's diner. Auto industry related displays and around 100 antique and classic cars are all located in the museum.

At the Grissom Air Museum, Bettie tried her had at flying a model of one of the first airplanes that was build by the Wright brothers.

After climbing the tower members got a birds eye view of airplanes from WW II to present day aircraft.

Lloyd, a Hoosier Cruiser member and pilot, was explaining the working of a F-4 Phantom II jet fighter.

As one can see, the June Rally was chock full of things to do.

Caravan to Bowling Green, OH

Members have asked about the procedure to be followed for registration and parking together. Margie Bruwinkel, FMCA staff, has been most helpful. She has scheduled a time for Hoosier Cruiser members to arrive in a caravan. You need to be registered before arriving on Sunday. Alan Schmiedt will have caravan cards to be placed in your windshield and you will be allowed to park together no matter when you sent in your reservation. Alan will distribute the cards at the rendezvous point. Please contact Alan to make sure that he has enough cards for everyone and to create an accurate list of those planning to caravan to the rally.

The caravan will rendezvous at the Petro2 Truck stop on Sunday, July 19th. at the Petro2 Truck stop. Take US 24 east from Ft. Wayne to Exit 38 in Ohio near Napoleon, OH. Turn on Industrial Drive to the truck stop. The Petro2 and Pilot truck stops are located at the same exit. Plan to arrive before 1 p.m. We will depart after 1 p.m. and travel the remaining 27 miles to Bowling Green in a caravan. Members are traveling in a caravan to be parked together. You are welcome to travel to the rally on your own and locate other members after you have been parked.

Joann Malinowski suffered a stroke in March. She is recovering in the rehab facility at Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village. The Hoosier Cruisers wish Joann a speedy recovery.

GLASS Rally Fun

The club was well represented by its members. Seventeen coaches arrived on Thursday and caravanned into the Fairgrounds. Other Hoosier Cruisers had already arrived which brought the total to over 25 coaches.

Several Hoosier Cruisers went to lunch at the Tabor Hill Winery. They had an excellent lunch and enjoyed the view of the vineyards.

After lunched some of the members traveled to see the round barn which had been moved to its location in Berrien Springs, MI.

Friday, Greg Wessel accepted a certificate that recognized the Hoosier Cruisers' 35th Anniversary.

Jane and Ernie Clashman were recognized as Outstanding Members for their many years of service as recruitment ambassadors for the club. They will no longer be manning the Chapter Fairs at the many FMCA rallies, but will continue as members of the club.

Can you imagine, over 45 Hoosier Cruiser showed their FMCA spirit and served the Saturday evening dinner to over 800 attendees at the rally. The food was great, but the fellowship was even better.

The rally was a success. There were a wide variety of seminars to attend, fantastic entertainment, a car show that exhibited cars from the 1920's to a Smart car that was fitted to be towed.

May Rally

Inspite of the occassional sprinkles, the Hoosier Cruisers had a great time. Attendees chose from a smorgasbord of interesting sights around Clarksville and Louisville. Members visited an outstanding flower and garden show, Falls of the Ohio State Park, the Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat Museum, and many other places of interest.

The rally also provided delicious food including a pancake breakfast.

Members worked on a challenging jigsaw puzzle.

All those who attended enjoyed the fellowship, swapping tall tales, and sharing jokes.

Our hats go off to the Rally Masters, Rem Remley and Judy Hohl, who organized an outstanding rally. THANKS!
