GLAMARAMA - HOOSIER CRUISERS CELEBRATING 50 YEARS

Mark your calendars for GLAMARAMA.  This will be a special rally for Hoosier Cruisers.  The chapter will be recognized for the club’s 50th anniversary of being a chapter of FMCA.

Ken Lewis, President of GLAMA, will be participating in the recognition of our chapter. Ken is working on which night to present the certificate.  Betty Tilmann has a dinner scheduled for Thursday of that week. We would like to have as many members present as possible. The date is June 5-9 in Greenville Oh.

 Hoosier Cruisers Holiday Gathering November 14, Tuesday 2:30 at Golden Corral in Anderson The restaurant is located on Indiana highway 109 just south of the intersection with I-69, interchange 226. Try to arrive between 2:00 and 2:30. Pricing is higher before 2:00.

Hoosier Cruisers Having Fun in Parke County

 

Many thanks go to  Kevin & Denise Watters and Jim Wall for arranging food and activities for a fun rally in Rockville.  Enjoy the photos which were submitted by members of attendees having a great time socializing, eating, and exploring a variety of experiences.


Members had a tour of a grist mill in Parke County.


Had dinner at the Thirty Six Saloon which is known for their BBQ

 



Parke County is known for its covered bridges and has the title of “Covered Bridge Capital of the World”. Visitors can travel the county roads and see the 31 historic bridges.

September Rally 9/7-10/23 Tipton County Fairgrounds 1220 S Main St Tipton, IN 46072

We will be camping at the Tipton County Fairgrounds for fun and fellowship. We will start off with walking tacos for supper on Thursday evening. On Friday morning we will tour Mr. Muffin’s Model Train Museum followed by a light catered lunch. In the afternoon there will be two additional opportunities. Terri Blosser will demonstrate flower arranging and you will be able to make your own flower bouquet or you can go on a tour of Elsa Manufacturing which produces automotive fuel tanks and exhaust systems and does plastic injection molding of air ducts and air cleaners. Friday evening we will have a carry in supper with fried chicken provided. Saturday morning join us for breakfast of biscuits and gravy. The rest of the day will be on your own to enjoy the Tipton Pork Festival. We will gather back at the campground that evening for some ice cream sundaes. Campfire weather permitting and games in the 4H building will be available through out the weekend. Both Friday and Saturday evening there will be a free concert in the park near the fairgrounds if you are interested. Sunday we will close with donuts and devotions.

Hoosier Cruisers were well represented at the International FMCA Rally which was held in Gillette, WY and participated in the activities

 Hoosier Cruisers participated in the Chapterfest, Chapter Fair with Christine Bailey as greeter, Jerry Covington our President sang Karaoke, and the club donated a Hoosier Hospitality Basket which raised $160 for charity at the International Rally.

Coldwater Capers......

Coldwater Capers…. Hoosier Cruisers enjoyed a wide variety of activities in Coldwater, MI. Al and Billie Foredeck planned a rally which offered unique places to visit, great food, and fellowship for new members and for those who have belonged to the chapter for many years. Check out the pictures of members enjoying stories around the campfire, picking flowers at a gladiolus farm, visiting a historic house, and attending the play at the restored Tibbits Opera House where they watched “Lend Me a Tenor”.

Hoosier Cruisers Are Sadden to Learn of the Passing of Jane Roush

Jane Roush passed away last Saturday. She was a good friend of ours. She had been the National Vice President of the Great Lakes Area and three times Rally Master for GLAMARAMA. She will be missed.

August Rally August 3-6, 2023—Harbor Cove Coldwater, MI

We hope to see many of you at Harbor Cove in August. The park is big-rig friendly and is easily accessible from the major highways around Coldwater. Shore fishing along the lake is available but a Michigan license is required. The park also has a pond for swimming or license-free catch and release fishing. Bean soup and Sloppy Joes are on the menu for Thursday evening. For Friday we have scheduled a visit to the Flower Barn, a commercial flower farm where you can go into the fields and pick your own bouquet, choose from the many premade arrangements, or simply enjoy the beauty of the fields. Other activities are works in progress at this point. If you are at all interested in seeing a live play, you might visit the website for Tibbets Opera House. Two different productions are being performed the weekend of the rally. Dickey’s BBQ Pit is catering the Saturday evening meal.

There’s more to Shipshewana than horse and buggies……

Hoosier Cruisers attended the July campout in Shipshewana. This was a laid back opportunity for members to visit and enjoy evening gatherings around a fire. The campout began with a hotdog supper provided by the Covingtons and sides provided by attending members. Friday and Saturday were left open for members to choose from the many activities available in the area. Some of he members chose to attend a horse auction, the musical “The Confession”, or go shopping at the many unique shops in town. Check out the pictures below of our club members having fun.

*Don’t Miss the July Campout* July 6-9, 2023– Shipshewana RV

Twenty camp sites at Shipshewana RV Park have already been reserved July 6-9, 2023. To participate in this event, members need to call the campground 260-768-7627 to make a registration. Tell them you are with the Hoosier Cruisers. They will hold these spaces until June 5, 2023. There are plenty to do things to do including some of the things below. Members will not be bored; the only problem is choosing what to do. Blue Gate Theater—musicals and musical artists Menno-Hof Mennonite—learn about the Amish and Mennonites Dutch Creek Farm—tours available Yoder Department Store—wide variety of items, clothes to fabrics RV Hall of Fame & Museum—excellent collection of RV vehicles Linton’s Enchanted Garden—largest Indiana home & garden center Bonneyville Mill County Park—Oldest continuously operating grist mill

July Campout 6th - 9th, 2023

July Campout The July rally will be at the Shipshewana RV Park on July 6-9, 2023. You will need to call the campground at 260-768-7627 to make your reservation. Be sure to tell them you are with Hoosier Cruisers so that we can be parked as close as possible together. We will have hot dogs and buns furnished on Thursday evening around 6:00. Bring something to share. There are no other planned activities but there are many interesting things to do in and around Shipshewana. See you all there.

GLAMARAMA 2023

 

The club had good interest at the Chapter Fair and members signed up new members.



Over 40 Hoosier Cruisers met at the Montage Restaurant in Greenville.  Members enjoyed an excellent buffet and fellowship.

Here is Hal Ashton pulling an Airstream trailer at the Airstream Heritage Museum.  It has trailers displayed from the 1930's to the present.




The rally included three nights of entertainment including the group Shannon Clark and Sugar.  The two other groups included music from the 50's which the audience sang along with the musicians.



You can see by the smiles of the ladies faces that they enjoyed the luncheon and the speaker at the Ladies Tea.





The Watter's hosted an afternoon gathering to meet the new members.

May Camping Rally - Bloomington

Monroe County Fairground 5700 W Airport Rd. Bloomington, IN 47403 Thursday, May 18 through Sunday, May 21 2023 Come and join us at the Monroe County Fairgrounds and feel free to come earlier on Wednesday, May 17th. There is plenty to do including seeing the Slocum Mechanical Puzzle Collection, the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Center, Monroe County History Center, sculptures, and the Tulip Train Trestle which was built in 1906. It is one of the longest of this type of bridge in he world. We will have coffee in the morning on Thursday through Sunday at the Rally Masters RV. Sunday there will be donuts which is included in the Rally Fee. Saturday night members are asked to bring finger food or a desert to be shared around a campfire. If you would like to decorate your RV for Memorial Day, there will be a prize for the best decorated RV. We are asking that Denise Watters be texted or emailed when sending your registration in the mail. We will follow up with a confirmation.
