May Rally

Inspite of the occassional sprinkles, the Hoosier Cruisers had a great time. Attendees chose from a smorgasbord of interesting sights around Clarksville and Louisville. Members visited an outstanding flower and garden show, Falls of the Ohio State Park, the Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat Museum, and many other places of interest.

The rally also provided delicious food including a pancake breakfast.

Members worked on a challenging jigsaw puzzle.

All those who attended enjoyed the fellowship, swapping tall tales, and sharing jokes.

Our hats go off to the Rally Masters, Rem Remley and Judy Hohl, who organized an outstanding rally. THANKS!

June Rally Update

This is just a reminder about our June Rally (4-7) in Howard County. We have added two additional events that may be of interest. While the service expert is answering questions about inverters and converters, at 4pm on Thursday, other members can tour the Greentown Glass Museum, which is only a few blocks away. On Saturday afternoon, after our Grissom AFB Museum tour, those of you like old cars can stop by the annual BOP Cruise In (Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac) This is normally a big event and is held at Highland Park. The other events, which are described in the prior newsletter are the Glass factory in Kokomo, where they make stained glass, just about the same way they made in in the 1890s. Then we have the Automotive Heritage Museum, which has become better every year. I will be your tour guide for that event. The Howard County 4H Fairgrounds, located in Greentown, is among the best in the state and have 150 campsites, many with 20,30 and 50 amp plug ins. We will be set up adjacent to the events building we will be using. This is a very affordable and I look forward to seeing many of you there! I represent this chapter at the Governing Board meeting as your National Director. At the July 2009 Governing Board meeting in Bowling Green, OH will be the election of the National Officers. I would like to get some feedback from you as members of Hoosier Cruisers.

Going South on 65, take exit 5, turn right on Veteran’s Parkway. Go .2 mile to Giltner Lane and turn right. Go .2 mile to Progress Way and turn right. Go .4 mile to “Y”, stay left of “Y”. Follow signs to Add-More Campground. (Some GPS systems will put you on 31. Don’t do it!!!!!)

There is a $25 per coach registration fee plus $10 per person for Saturday’s catered dinner. Please make check payable to M.L. Remley on arrival.

Thursday arrivals:
Most sites are pull-thus. Should you want help Greg or Rem will be available. Pick up packets at office from Judy or Bettie.

No host Happy Hour starting at 4:30. Bring a munchie and your beverage. A no host dinner at Cheddars. Leave at 5:15 so we can be in the same room.

Friday arrivals: get packets from Judy
Breakfast: Bring a breakfast dish to share, juice provided, coffee pot is on. Please bring your own place settings.

Spend the day in Louisville or in and around Clarksville. See attached list for recommendations.

Lunch on your own. There are several good restaurants in all price ranges very close to Add-More or eat in Louisville

Pitch-in dinner at 5:30. Meat will be provided. Please bring a favorite side dish, your beverage, and your place settings. Executive meeting will follow the dinner.

Saturday
Breakfast with the Hahns and Wessels cooking pancakes and link sausage. Juice provided. Coffee pot is on. Please bring your own place settings.

Spend the day in Louisville or in and around Clarksville. See attached list for recommendations.

Lunch on your own. There are several good restaurants in all price ranges very close to Add-More or eat in Louisville.

Dinner is being catered by Famous Dave’s Real Pit Bar-B-Que and consists of Texas Style Beef Brisket, world Famous Wilbur Beans, creamy coleslaw, potato salad, and award winning BBQ Sauce. Texas Sheet cake and ice cream for dessert. All for $10.00 Please bring your own beverage and place settings.

Business meeting will follow diner.

Sunday
Hook-up Breakfast of juice, coffee, donuts from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Please bring your own place setting.

Important notes: The building we will be using is large and NOT heated. Be sure to check Louisville weather before you come. There are no ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, etc available in the building.

Things to do at the Rally

Touring suggestions for Louisville. A complete Visitors Guide of Louisville, a detailed street map, and individual brochures of the following places will be provided for each coach. *These four are in close proximity of each other and can be reached via one parking garage. Due to limited and expensive parking we suggest that you car pool as much as possible.

Touring suggestions for Clarksville area. Individual brochures for the following places will be provided.

There are several other attractions within a 25 mile drive of Clarksville. Individual brochures are available at the campground office.

Carolyn Hardacre Will Be Missed

The funeral arrangements for Carolyn Hardacre are to be in Anderson. Calling hours will be at Robert Loose South Chapel 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2009. The funeral will be held at Westley Free Methodist Church 3017 W. 8th St., Anderson, 11:30 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2009, calling 1 hour before services. Funeral Dinner wil be at Robert Loose Community House 200 W. 53rd St. following the Memorial Park Gravesite Service.

Carolyn Hardacre, wife of Lowell Hardacre, will be missed by all Hoosier Cruiser members.

Time is Running Out

Don't miss the first rally for 2009. If you haven't already sent in your registrtion, click on the registration below, print it, fill it out and send it in to the campground with your registration money and a second copy to Judy Hohl and Rem Remley, Rally Masters. The Assistant Rally Masters are Jim and Nina Francis, and Bettie and Greg Wessel.

GLASS Rally 2009

The Great Lakes Area Spring Spree will be held May 21st through May 24th. Remember if you mail in you registration before May 2nd you will save $20, and we all want to save a buck these days. The following tentative plans have been made to caravan to the rally. Northwestern Hoosier Cruisers will meet at the Hobby Lobby parking lot in Michigan City at the intersection of Hwys 20 & 421 at 9:00 a.m. Central time zone (1hr. behind Indiana and Michigan Eastern time zone) on May 21st. Dick Shumaker has agree to again coordinate this group. A second group of Hoosier Cruisers will meet at J & D's Truck Stop at the northwest corner of the intersection of Hwys US 12 & US 31 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time zone. Both groups will rendezvous at the gate in the holding area. We will try to make a tentative list of those attending at the first rally. Rosanne Gardner has graciously agreed to organize the Hoosier Cruiser volunteers who will help serve a dinner at the rally. The club is paid for this service and we always need volunteers. This year's theme is "Let's Race In Time", so make sure you bring your best NASCAR attire. This event is always a great time, so make sure that you plan to be there.

Fun in Florida

What fun! Hoosier Cruisers gathered at the Sugar and Spice restaurant in Sarasota, Florida. Approximately 30 members attended the luncheon. All were excited at seeing old friends, sharing stories, and anxious for the new season of rallies to begin. The first rally will begin May 7th in Clarksville, IN.

As you can see we had a good time swapping tales in Florida.

Suz Snow Will Be Missed

Suz Snow was a member of the Hoosier Cruisers and will be missed by the members of the Hoosier Cruisers. Suz died in Port Charolette, Florida on February 12st. Suz and her husband, Charles, were instrumental in starting a winter luncheon gathering in Florida which continues today. Our prayers are with the family.

Happy Birthday Jack

Jack Stevens will be celebrating his 80th birthday on February 26th. For those members who know Jack, you may want to send him a card to help him celebrate.
