Plan to Attend the October Hoosier Cruiser Rally

Park County Fairgrounds – Oct.1^st -4^th

Mark your calendar for the upcoming rally to be held in Rockville at the Park County Fairgrounds.  

Members can arrive on Oct. 1^st and set up for camping and we may choose to have dinner at the 36   Friday, we plan to have a coffee hour in the morning and the remainder of the day members will have time to visit local sites that are of interest to them.  Suggestions will be provided in their welcome bag.  In the evening there will be a wiener roast.  Hotdogs, chips, and smores will be provided.  Please bring your hotdog sticks if you have them. On Saturday we had planned to visit the Antique Auto Hill Climb, but it has been cancelled.  Saturday evening, members will have an opportunity to test their skills at guessing the best answers to a Family Feud Game.  Sunday morning will begin with devotions, coffee and donuts

Campsites will have electricity.  Water and a dump station is available at the fairgrounds.  The cost per night is $25 and your registration will cover the charge for the meeting room rental.

September Rally

The Hoosier Cruisers September Rally will be held Sept. 10th to Sept. 13th at the Jay County Fairgrounds in Portland, IN. Ross and Melanie Boyer are the rally masters and can be contacted at email - rossboyer@outlook.com.

Special Hoosier Cruisers Update

Fellow Hoosier Cruisers,

As you may be aware, many of the FMCA events for the coming season have been cancelled. This includes Glamarama 2020 in June and the International Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska in August 2020.

As for our Hoosier Cruiser rallies, we (the Hoosier Cruiser Executive Board) have decided not to plan anything before August 2020. Therefore, there will be no rallies in May, June, or July of 2020. Hopefully, by August the COVID-19 virus issue will be behind us. You will be notified if there is any change of plans.

We certainly hope this is short-lived as we miss all of you and are anxious to get together again.

Our Sympathy Goes to Bea O'Dell

David O'Dell will be missed.  He died on February 24th due to natural causes in Gold Canyon Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held in the park in Gold Canyon. A "Celebration of Life", will be held this summer.

One Last Time

We are going to the 4-H fairgrounds in Goshen (where we used to have GLAMMA) on Friday October 18th thru Sunday the 20th.  Cost for water and electric is 26.75 and they have 3 dump stations.  Just call the fairgrounds at 574-533-3247 and tell them you're with the Hoosier Cruisers.  That way we will all be put together.  This is not a rally, nothing organized.  Just friends doing the good old camping thing.  Hope to see some of you there.  Please let me know if you are coming.  219-743-2929

Cruising in Shelbyville

The Hoosier Cruisers had a wonderful weekend at Shelbyville which was held at the Shelbyville Fairgrounds.  Twenty two coaches were greeted by Bettie and Linda in their poodle skirts at the campground on Thursday, Oct. 3^rd.  After everyone had setup their coaches we ate dinner at the Texas Corral and enjoyed visiting with one another.  All members were photographed in a Cadillac and they took the pictures home when they left.

Friday began with a pancake breakfast which was enjoyed and some even had seconds.  Mid-morning we left for the Shelby County Municipal Airport.  We saw one of the few remaining transcontinental air mail arrows which were used in the early 1900’s for air mail flights. 

The arrows point toward Indianapolis.  We then were shown a Lakota helicopter which is used as part of the drug enforcement in Indiana.  One of the helicopters had recently returned from the Mexican/US border where they had patrolled the border.  Each of the helicopters cost approximately 7.5 million dollars. These amazing helicopters are able to view objects through house walls from 5000 feet above.

Upon returning to the fairgrounds we had a soup supper and dessert.  The day ended with a game of Jeopardy which tested members’ memories of happenings in the ‘60s.  Great fun!

The next day we visited the Grover Museum where we learned about the history of Shelbyville and were treated to root beer sodas.  For supper members were served a meal of nachos with a wide variety of toppings.  The meal was followed by an outstanding concert at the Strand Theatre where the “Sounds of Summer”, gave an excellent performance that showcased many Beach Boys selections.

The rally ended with donuts and coffee, and devotions by the Ashtons.

It was a great rally, good food, fellowship, and fun!

I just received wood that our long-time member and great friend J R Kelley passed away at 12:26 this afternoon, August  28, 2019.  Again, keep Louise and their daughters in your thoughts and prayers.

Join us in Winchester, IN for our September Rally!

We will be camping at the 4H Fairgrounds in Winchester, IN on September 12-15.  There  will be 30 amp electric only for a charge of $25.00 per night.  Water is available but not on each site.  Unfortunately there are no dump facilities on the grounds.

Join us Thursday evening at 6:00 for walking tacos provided by your Rally Masters, followed by a campfire, weather permitting.  Friday breakfast is on your own.  That morning we will  be touring the famous Wick’s pie  factory.  You may have lunch at Mrs. Wick’s café if you desire, and sample a piece of pie.  That evening, Coe’s Noodles will be opening just for us with their Chicken and Noodles dinner at a cost of $12.50 per person.

Saturday morning your Rally Masters will provide you with a Biscuits and Gravy breakfast.  There will be a tour of Frank Miller Lumber in Union City, which specializes in wood for   the woodturner.  A Fine Arts   festival in Union City is happening all day on Saturday.       Several other options are also available in the area.  That evening we will join together for      a carry-in supper.  Bring your favorite dish to share.  The meat will be provided.  There will be a free concert in the park in Winchester for those interested.  Another option for the   weekend is Date Night at the local drive-in theater on Friday or Saturday night.  We will say our goodbyes Sunday Morning after donuts and devotions.  Hope to see you there.

Hoosier Cruisers Explore South Haven

The August Rally was held in South Haven, MI and was organized by Dean & Bev Johnson, and Fred & Jane Bingman.  They had arranged for the club members to camp at the Moose Lodge or a campground next door.  Members arrived on Thursday and setup.  We received welcome packets and planned our activities for the next couple of days.  South Haven has quaint shops, museums, and a beautiful waterfront with boats of all sizes.

Some of the members visited the Maritime Museum which had displays that summarized the history of South Haven including stories about courageous adventures of the early sailors and Coast Guard.
  It also had antique boats from the early 1900's including a racing sailboat, a Chris Craft speed boat, an early fishing boat, and an electric boat used for river cruises.












On Friday, the club had lunch and an eclectic restaurant at Crane's Orchard.  The service was great and the food was excellent.  The restaurant is know for its apple cider and homemade pie.









After a busy day of touring the area, visiting wineries, shopping farmers markets, and browsing the many small shops, the day ended with the traditional pitch.  The food was as usual, outstanding and enjoyed by all.  We also celebrated Fred's birthday with cake, candles, and an off key happy birthday song.

The rally ended with donuts and devotions on Sunday morning by Bettie Wessel.
