Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Nancy and I would like to extend to all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  It is hard to believe that this year of 2015 is on the door step of 2016 already.  The New Year will bring forth enjoyable times at our rallies, renewing relationships and the making of new friends with new members.

Be safe in you travels and remember that FMCA at Perry is in the middle of March.  More to come.

Note form Karen Heltzel

Fellow Hoosier Cruisers,

I want to thank you for all the cards, emails, calls, prayers, and the flowers during Allen's illness and death.  Allen and I enjoyed everyone's friendship over the years and all the good times we had at the rallies.  RV people are wonderful caring people and the Hoosier Cruisers definitely have the most caring people of all!  Allen and I both were very proud to be a member of this chapter.

Love to all,

Northern Christmas Party a Great Success

A very special Thank You to the 39 Northern HC that attended the Christmas dinner Nov. 7th.

You were so generous with your donations of food, hats/gloves for children.  They were given to the Family Christian Center in Nappanee, In.

The food was great and a fun time was had by all.  We played Bingo with our gifts and a lantern, soup cup, carry basket were the hot items.

It was also our pleasure to have the National Vice President Jon Walker and his wife Sondra there too.

Have a safe and wonderful Winter Season, see you in the Spring!!!        Tilmanns/O'Dells

PLANNED ACTIVITIES
HOOSIER CRUISER’S RALLY SEPTEMBER 17TH TO 20TH
ALLEN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
2726 CARROLL ROAD
FORT WAYNE, IN  46818

THURSDAY 9/17
Check-in and setup will be 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Social hour will be from 4:00 – 5:30.
Anyone that wants to, will leave at 5:40 PM to arrive at 6:00 PM for dinner at Golden Corral in a reserved banquet room.

FRIDAY 9/18
There will be a pitch in breakfast at 8:00 AM.

The rest of the day, you can choose your activities, like shopping at Glenbrook Square Mall, Jefferson Point Mall or Northcrest Mall.

Other suggestions are to trace your family tree at the downtown public library.  This is one of the best genealogy research locations in the country.  Other interesting places to visit are the Botanical Gardens in downtown Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.

6:00 PM a catered Italian meal will be provided in a room at the fairgrounds.  We believe the menu will be chicken parmesan with spaghetti and lasagna for people who don’t care for chicken parmesan.  Salad, breadsticks and desert will also be provided.

7:00 PM  we will have a business meeting and Election of Officers.

SATURDAY 9/19
Breakfast will be on your own.  The Johnny Appleseed Festival starts for Saturday and Sunday.  There are many foods to choose from and vendors to visit there for purchases of those must have items.  Parking is, I believe, $5.00, so you might want to group up to save money on parking.

Another interesting tour that is free is Saint Francis College.  The highlight of the tour will probably be seeing the old Bass Mansion that is now an administrative building.  This was built by John Bass, a foundry mogul, around the turn of the 20th century.  The time for this tour is 9:00 AM to noon.

GLAMARAMA

GLAMARAMA has always set aside Thursday evening [June 4] as a time for chapters to have a time too get together.  Hoosier Cruisers have always used this time for our June Rally.  Usually we have always enjoyed sharing a meal, a time to visit, share stories and enjoy each others company.  This year is not different.  There will be a meal arranged by our Rally Masters Betty and Doug Tilmann, assisted by Dave and Bea O’Dell.  They will have a meal grilled on site by Chef Mike.  A Rally Form is included in this newsletter which also contains the menu and details.  You must submit a completed Rally Form so the proper preparations can be completed for out enjoyment.

Also, be aware that on that Thursday at 4:00 PM, the gates will be open so that any chapter members who are not attending GLAMARAMA can attend the chapter activity at no charge.  Take advantage of this opportunity, a very nice benefit provided by our Area Rally leadership.

Fun and Fellowship at the May Rally

What a May Rally!  Members must have been ready to get together and many arrived early just to be with friends.  There were a total of 28 coaches and others drove to CERAland for the May Rally.  After the coaches were parked on Thursday, all members were invited to a vegetable soup dinner prepared by Trudy Landers and Bettie Wessel.  It was delicious.  That evening the Hoosier Cruisers gathered around a campfire back at the campsites and baked “pudgie pies” over the campfire.  For those who don’t know what “pudgie pies” are, they are small pies made with slices of bread filled with pie filling and then baked with pie irons.  Members were patient and waited while the pies were being made.  What a fun and scrumptious way to end the day.

Friday began with a choice of two tours including the Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant or the Tri-State Artisans wine glass painting class.

Friday began with a choice of two tours including the Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant or the Tri-State Artisans wine glass painting class.
Both were enjoyable experiences.  In the afternoon participants took a tour of Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor where they still make their own ice cream on site.  The parlor opened in the early 1900’s and was restored in 2006.  The tour ended with an ice cream sundae bar where everyone had sundaes.  Supper was provided by Strawberry Fields on the town square of Hope.  The great meal was followed by a business meeting.

Saturday was a day that the members could choose what they wanted to do.  Some went to the discount mall, others followed the Architectural Trail, and still others visited Nashville or Story, Indiana.  After a day of exploring the club gathered at the Recreation Building and had a potato bar where the baked potatoes were furnished and members provided the toppings.  No one left hungry.  Steve Ruster and Jerry Covington brought the firewood and we had a third huge campfire.

Sunday morning all were treated to a choice of a variety of donuts and coffee.  This was followed by devotions which were led by Melanie Boyer.

Many thanks go to all who participated to make this rally a success including Jerry and Trudy Landers, assistant rally masters, and Bettie and Greg Wessel, rally masters.

Members left in anticipation of gathering again at GLAMARAMA on June 3rd.  Hope to see you all there.

Great Fun at Sun-N-Fun

Hoosier Cruisers were invited to a luncheon at Sun-N-Fun in Sarasota, Florida.  Member came from all around the state traveling from Naples, Thonothosassa, and other parts of Florida.  The FMCA President, Charlie Adcock and Vice President Jon Walker along with GLAMA's National Vice President, Jane Roush also attended the event.

The luncheon had been arranged by Rick and Sandy Hahn and the food was outstanding as usual. They had arranged for the use of a private room until 3:00 p.m. which gave everyone time to "catch-up" on what was happening with them during the winter.

May is a time for the spring gathering of the Hoosier Cruisers

Mark your calendar for the first Hoosier Cruiser Rally beginning April 30th and ending May 3rd.  Come prepared to have fun.  The Wessels and Landers have planned exciting activities for everyone.

Hooiser Cruisers will arrive on Thursday at Ceraland, in Columbus, Indiana.  This is a great campground with…level...sites.  Each site will have water and electricity.  A dump station is nearby.  For the first time we will have a meeting room available to us in the campground.  So whether it is warm, a little cool, or rainy we should still have a good time.  After members are set-up, the rally masters and assistant rally masters are planning a soup supper for everyone.  This will also be a great time to gather and renew friendships.

Friday will be another fun packed day beginning a tour of a Cummins engine plant.  And what could be better than following this with ice cream at Zaharakos, http://www.zaharakos.com/.  This is a restored ice cream parlor that was first opened in the early 1900’s and today they still serve homemade ice cream.  It also has an orchestrion which is a mechanical music player.

Friday evening members will meet at Strawberry Fields which is a tea room in the quaint town of Hope.  We will have a business meeting following our evening meal.

Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast. You won’t want to miss pancakes flipped by the rally masters and assistant rally masters.  The remainder of the day will be spent exploring historic Nashville, following the architectural tour in Columbus, shopping at the Edinburgh discount mall, or just napping.  Be sure to be back for the Power House micro-brewery tour followed by the Hoosier Cruiser inaugural baked potato bar.  Members are asked to bring toppings for the potatoes or a dessert.

The rally will end with coffee and donuts on Sunday morning.  After eating members are invited to devotions before leaving for home.

Click May Rally 2015 for a printable May Rally registration .

This is a rally that you won’t want to miss!

Watch for the registration form coming the first of April.

Can you believe that we are half way through January and on top of that it is 2015!!!  It won’t be long and the snow and cold will have gone and Spring Time will be here along with a new Rally Season.  Wanted to convey a few thoughts to get us all started.

It has been brought to my attention that there are some who have not renewed their memberships yet.  Check your records to see if your dues are current.  There is a membership/renewal form on the blog [http://hoosiercruisers.blogspot.com] – right column.  Yearly dues are $15.00.  Mail your completed form with dues to: Betty Tilmann, 58965 C.R. 1, Elkhart, IN 46517  If you have any questions or just can’t remember  you can contact our Secretary, Betty Tilmann by email at betztil@yahoo.com or phone at 574-261-1612.

Illness / Passing of a member
Should you receive notice that a member or former member has become ill or have passed on please get that information to one of the officers or myself.  We want to keep all of you informed as well as to send them cards etc. from Hoosier Crusiers.

Hoosier Cruiser Winter Gathering
The Winter Gathering for Hoosier Cruisers again will be held at Sun N’ Fun RV resort in Sarasota, Florida on February 12th between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.  If you have attended the event before you know how good it is, if this will be your first time you are in for a treat.  For directions please see the notice on the blog.  For questions contact Rick Hahn by email at rlhahn1@gmail.com or phone 260-615-1816.

GLAMARAMA 2015

Yes it is only the middle of January but time has a way of flying by and all of a sudden June is only a few weeks away.  GLAMARAMA 2015 will be held June 2-7 at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen, Indiana.  Registration is now available on the FMCA website under Chapters/Areas.  You can download the registration form or register online.  Again this year they will park us by chapters, so the earlier you register they can get the chapter areas set aside.  I am sure that like in the past you will need to notify your Chapter President so they can notify the parking chairman.  Please send that information to me along with the type of camping  your requested.  Also, Thursday evening time has been set aside for Chapter meetings and our Rally Masters Betty and Doug Tilmann are planning a dinner for that time.  More on that to come.  Don’t forget to register early – Last year they sold out all available sites in the fairgrounds.
