Great Fun in Batesville!

After all the coaches had been parked, members gathered in the lodge which proved to be invaluable because of the rain.  Supper was served which included “Sloppy Joe” sandwiches, a choice of chips, pickle, and cookies.  Hoosier Cruisers enjoyed eating and taking time to visit.  After the meal the Wessel’s shared pictures of their recent trip to Alaska.  As they told their story about the beauty of the area they also told of their adventures along the roads. Because breakdowns do occur, Greg made orange 2 cones for each coach that can be used if it becomes necessary to stop along the road for emergency repairs.

The next day participants had time to visit Canal Days in Metamora.  What a busy festival.  Lots of booths and crafts.  That evening we had a “carry-in” dinner and as usual no one left hungry. Delicious!!!!  Tilmanns and Boyers provided wood for a campfire which was held at campsite 1. While swapping stories and watching the fire, members were treated to mulled cider a fall favorite.

Saturday morning began with a pancake breakfast prepared by the rally masters and assistant rally master.  Many came back for seconds of the pancakes and sausages.  The rest of the day was spent sightseeing or attending the wine festival at Ertel Winery.  Again there were crafts, wine tasting, hayrides, and rides in a Stanley Steamer automobile.  We all smiled as the steamer chugged around the field puffing steam instead of smoke.  That evening members made "smores" after roasting marshmallows over a fire in the fireplace.  As you can see Richard really enjoyed his sweet dessert.

Sunday was a day of departure, but before leaving attendees enjoyed a variety of donuts, coffee, juice, and milk.  Bettie Wessel closed the rally with devotions focused on the history of the hymn, “Precious Lord Take My Hand”.  By 11:00 a.m. the campground was vacant again and ready for the next visitors.
