The August Rally was “roaring success” thanks to the Tilmanns and Watters. The two couples planned and organized an event that included visiting the RV/MH Museum with the best collections of vintage RV’s in the United States. They also provided great meals including chicken from Nelson’s. The “happy hours”, and campfires provided an opportunity to renew friendships and create new one. Many thanks go to both couples.

September Rally at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville
Don’t Miss the September Rally
Al and Billie Fordeck and Dave and Ruth Bracey are hosting the rally on September 22-25 at Bixler Lake Park and Campground in Kendallville, Indiana. This park is located on the east side of Bixler Lake and should be entered via CR 1000 E at the Kendallville Outdoor Recreation Complex. The road to the campground is on the far west side of the complex parking lot. If you put the actual street address for the park into your GPS, you will probably be given directions to go through the city streets---not a viable route for large rigs. Google does provide directions to the Recreation Complex.
Thursday evening the rally masters will serve ham and beans, corn muffins, Subway meat wraps and other goodies.
Friday morning we have scheduled a tour of the cabin in the woods at Gene Stratton Porter State Memorial on Sylvan Lake near Rome City. Fees are regularly $5 for children 3-17, $8 for adults, and $7 for sixty and over. We will receive a $1 discount on all tickets. Participants will pay at the cabin.
Saturday morning we will tour the Mid-American Windmill Museum located just south of the sports complex on 1000 E. Cost is $5 for all adults; children get in free (again pay at the museum). The evening meal will be at the Kendallville American Legion Post on Main Street beginning with social time at 5:30. The menu consists of a variety of salads, baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. Coffee, tea, and lemonade are included with the price of the meal. A cash bar will be available for other beverages.
If you have any questions, contact Billie (260-343-8021; blfteach@hotmail.com) or Ruth (260-223-1473; rbracey2@hotmail.com).
August Rally at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum
Hoosier Cruisers August, 2022 Rally
August 11-14, 2022
Elkhart, Indiana
Come join us for a weekend of exploring Elkhart, Indiana...
The RV Capital of the World!!
We will be parking on the grounds of the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum located at 21565 Executive Parkway, Elkhart, Indiana. The museum houses an amazing collection of recreational vehicles dating back to the early years of RVing, all with a story and a place in the history of the RV industry. You will not want to miss the celebrity units of Mae West and Charles Linbergh. A tour of the museum is planned on Friday morning.
Elkhart offers many interesting sites to explore, in your free time, such as the Wellfield Bontanic Gardens, Parks in the downtown area, 1910 Ruthmere Mansion Museum, 1848 Havilah Beardsley House (founder of the City of Elkhart), Quilt Gardens throughout the county and even a Hall of Hero’s Museum (the only Superhero and comic book museum in the world). A SPECIAL TREAT this year is the return of World Renown Sculpturer, Steward Johnson’s bronzed life size statues which will be located around the city and the county.
We’ll have coffee gatherings to start your day and dinners planned to end your day, all with the company of your fellow Hoosier Cruisers. You are welcome to arrive on Wednesday, August 10 and hang out with us (we may even put you to work)!!
See you in August,
Doug, Betty, Kevin and Denise

The Camping Season is off to a Great Start
The May Rally was a success with members attending the rally held in Crawfordsville at the Sugar Creek Campground. Our hats are off to the Rally Masters, John Saalwaechter & Penny Johnson, and Assist. Rally Masters Tony & Margo Brandenburg. They planned and organized a rally which included time for fellowship with other members and a wide variety of activities. Members could visit historic mansions, a railroad museum, a rotary jail, enjoying meals with friends, and just sitting around a campfire.
Our thanks go to Betty Tilmann for submitting the photos of the rally activities.

Rally Masters Needed - You Can Help
We are needing rally masters for the July and September rallies. Here are a few suggestions to help with planning a rally. County fairgrounds work well for accommodating our group without the need for a definite number for reservations. The following fairgrounds have been used in the past and I have checked their calendars to avoid their own county fairs.
Shelby County Fairground, Shelbyville IN available July and
September
Jefferson County Fairground, Madison IN available July and
September
Marion County Fairground, Indianapolis IN available July and
September
Hendricks County Fairgrounds, Danville IN available
September
Jasper County Fairgrounds, Rensselear IN available September
Tipton County Fairgrounds, Tipton, IN available September
Each fairground has varying facilities, costs, and hook ups. Also
Ceraland Campground in Columbus, IN has worked well for our rallies. Check with
the visitor center in the area and see what kind of activities might be
available. We are constantly adding new members so don't be hesitant to
go back to an area where we have been before. Wessels and Covingtons
would be happy give you some pointers on planning and organizing a rally.
The most important part of any rally is just being together and having
fun.
See you this summer
Jerry Covington

Hoosier Cruisers at the International Convention
We are having a great time at the 104th International Convention in Tucson AZ. Hoosier Cruisers attending are Larry and Margaret Reynolds, Jerry and Roberta Covington, and Ken and Linda Lewis. We held a mini block party and had 3 new couples join Hoosier Cruisers.
Roger and Mary Buss from Milford IN
John and Sue Dowling from Bluffton IN
Mikel and Belinda Murray from Rising Sun IN
We look forward to having them join us at some of our upcoming rallies. There are around 1400 coaches attending the convention this year. We are enjoying good seminars, vendors, and lots of display coaches. The weather started a little cool in the 60s but warmed up to the 90s by the end of the week. And you can't beat the lovely Arizona sunshine. See you all in May.
