PLANNED ACTIVITIES
HOOSIER CRUISER’S RALLY SEPTEMBER 17TH TO 20TH
ALLEN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
2726 CARROLL ROAD
FORT WAYNE, IN  46818

THURSDAY 9/17
Check-in and setup will be 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Social hour will be from 4:00 – 5:30.
Anyone that wants to, will leave at 5:40 PM to arrive at 6:00 PM for dinner at Golden Corral in a reserved banquet room.

FRIDAY 9/18
There will be a pitch in breakfast at 8:00 AM.

The rest of the day, you can choose your activities, like shopping at Glenbrook Square Mall, Jefferson Point Mall or Northcrest Mall.

Other suggestions are to trace your family tree at the downtown public library.  This is one of the best genealogy research locations in the country.  Other interesting places to visit are the Botanical Gardens in downtown Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.

6:00 PM a catered Italian meal will be provided in a room at the fairgrounds.  We believe the menu will be chicken parmesan with spaghetti and lasagna for people who don’t care for chicken parmesan.  Salad, breadsticks and desert will also be provided.

7:00 PM  we will have a business meeting and Election of Officers.

SATURDAY 9/19
Breakfast will be on your own.  The Johnny Appleseed Festival starts for Saturday and Sunday.  There are many foods to choose from and vendors to visit there for purchases of those must have items.  Parking is, I believe, $5.00, so you might want to group up to save money on parking.

Another interesting tour that is free is Saint Francis College.  The highlight of the tour will probably be seeing the old Bass Mansion that is now an administrative building.  This was built by John Bass, a foundry mogul, around the turn of the 20th century.  The time for this tour is 9:00 AM to noon.

GLAMARAMA

GLAMARAMA has always set aside Thursday evening [June 4] as a time for chapters to have a time too get together.  Hoosier Cruisers have always used this time for our June Rally.  Usually we have always enjoyed sharing a meal, a time to visit, share stories and enjoy each others company.  This year is not different.  There will be a meal arranged by our Rally Masters Betty and Doug Tilmann, assisted by Dave and Bea O’Dell.  They will have a meal grilled on site by Chef Mike.  A Rally Form is included in this newsletter which also contains the menu and details.  You must submit a completed Rally Form so the proper preparations can be completed for out enjoyment.

Also, be aware that on that Thursday at 4:00 PM, the gates will be open so that any chapter members who are not attending GLAMARAMA can attend the chapter activity at no charge.  Take advantage of this opportunity, a very nice benefit provided by our Area Rally leadership.

Fun and Fellowship at the May Rally

What a May Rally!  Members must have been ready to get together and many arrived early just to be with friends.  There were a total of 28 coaches and others drove to CERAland for the May Rally.  After the coaches were parked on Thursday, all members were invited to a vegetable soup dinner prepared by Trudy Landers and Bettie Wessel.  It was delicious.  That evening the Hoosier Cruisers gathered around a campfire back at the campsites and baked “pudgie pies” over the campfire.  For those who don’t know what “pudgie pies” are, they are small pies made with slices of bread filled with pie filling and then baked with pie irons.  Members were patient and waited while the pies were being made.  What a fun and scrumptious way to end the day.

Friday began with a choice of two tours including the Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant or the Tri-State Artisans wine glass painting class.

Friday began with a choice of two tours including the Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant or the Tri-State Artisans wine glass painting class.
Both were enjoyable experiences.  In the afternoon participants took a tour of Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor where they still make their own ice cream on site.  The parlor opened in the early 1900’s and was restored in 2006.  The tour ended with an ice cream sundae bar where everyone had sundaes.  Supper was provided by Strawberry Fields on the town square of Hope.  The great meal was followed by a business meeting.

Saturday was a day that the members could choose what they wanted to do.  Some went to the discount mall, others followed the Architectural Trail, and still others visited Nashville or Story, Indiana.  After a day of exploring the club gathered at the Recreation Building and had a potato bar where the baked potatoes were furnished and members provided the toppings.  No one left hungry.  Steve Ruster and Jerry Covington brought the firewood and we had a third huge campfire.

Sunday morning all were treated to a choice of a variety of donuts and coffee.  This was followed by devotions which were led by Melanie Boyer.

Many thanks go to all who participated to make this rally a success including Jerry and Trudy Landers, assistant rally masters, and Bettie and Greg Wessel, rally masters.

Members left in anticipation of gathering again at GLAMARAMA on June 3rd.  Hope to see you all there.
