GLASS Rally - Great Fun!

Several Hoosier Cruiser coaches traveled from all over Indiana to enjoy the GLASS Rally. Our adventure began at Gate 3 of the Berrien County Fairgrounds in Michigan. The members enjoyed good eating, great entertainment, seminars and a side trip to several vineyards. Enjoy the photos below that will give you a glimpse of some of the activities that were enjoyed.

Members enjoying lunch at Tabor Hill Winery. The food was excellent.

The Frustrated Maestros entertained those in attendance with a medley of old favorites.

Our Hoosier Cruiser banner was held high as members joined the parade to officially open the GLASS Rally.

John Bressler, singer/songwriter/comedian/musician entertained all with his soulfully raspy vocal style while he played his "Phantom Grand Piano".

Rosane directed the 40 plus Hoosier Cruisers who served dinner to over 800 rally goers. We all had a good time serving, helping others, and cleaning up after the event. Thanks to all those who helped.

Bettie and Sandy really got into the 50's theme by wearing poodle skirts. Some of the other members actually wore clothing from their high school years.

Don and Lou Ann enjoyed the car show that included many cars from the past. The collection included a Thunderbird, DeSotos, Mustangs, and Corvettes. For those who weren't interested in the old cars, they had an opportunity to tour a huge selection of new and used motorhomes. Dealers had brought a wide variety of recreational vehicles including class B, class C, and some very luxurious coaches.

Secret Recipe

For those Hoosier Cruisers who asked for Judy's Secret Recipe, she has agreed to share. Judy really does cook a pretty good brisket and BBQ ribs. Both are done the same way. She removes some of the fat from the brisket. Puts Strawberry's Shake-On BBQ Seasoning (or your choice of any rub) pretty heavily on all surfaces. The more you use the more flavor/spiciness you'll get. Brown on grill to your liking (brownness). Let cool to handle. Wrap in plastic wrap. (Yes, like Saran). Wrap in foil. Put in 300 degree oven for about 3 hours. Slice and serve. Rem likes to serve the ribs with Montgomery BBQ sauce. I think mainly because it has to be heated. But it is a good BBQ sauce.

Thanks for sharing.

Fellowship and dining at Texas Roadhouse.

If a Hoosier Crusier has a problem there is always someone around to help. Club members have a wealth of experience and knowledge to solve whatever arises.

Club members visit texillery wearvers to see throws and lap robes being hand made. The handcrafted quality has made Textillery Weavers the leading maker of handwoven throws in the world due to their color and designs. With over 500 styles and colors including jacquard woven throws, the company has been won several awards. These beautiful treasures are all woven in the United States.

The Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center was fascinating. It is a non-profit organization that supports Tibetans in exile. Hoosier Cruisers were able to visit the Kumbum Chamtse Ling Monastery, Tibetan stupas, and Cultural Building. The Cultural Building contains traditional Tibetan Butter Sculptures, Buddhs and Bodhisttvas. The walls and entrances were highly decorated and beautiful. A walk through the grounds was peaceful and relaxing.

May & June Rallies

Make sure that you have marked your calendar for the May Rally in Bloomington. Rem Remley and Judy Hohl have planned a tour of the Buddist Mongolian Cultural Center and a textillery factory. The best caterer in the Bloomington area will be serving an evening dinner. What a great way to begin the camping season.

Watch your mailbox for information about the June Rally. Betty Tilmann has planned a rally packed with interesting tours and fun activities. You will be able to visit a machine shop that runs without electricity, talk with a 3rd generation quilter, see bees wax candles created by the Bontrager Family, tour rustic cabins, enjoy Yoder popcorn, and tour a bison ranch. WOW!

For those who come for the food, you can have dinner on Thursday with club members at the 5 & 20 Restaurant, enjoy hamburgers prepared by the renown chefs Carl and Doug on Friday, and experience a real chuckwagon dinner on Saturday. Each day will begin with coffee and a buffet of campers' favorites. The rally will conclude on Sunday with a short church service.

You won't want to miss theses rallies!

GLASS Rally

The Great Lakes Area Spring Spree will be held May 22nd through May 25th. Remember if you mail in you registration before May 3rd you will save $15, and we all want to save money. The following tentative plans have been made to caravan to the rally.

Northwestern Hoosier Cruisers will meet at the Hobby Lobby parking lot in Michigan City at the intersection of Hwys 20 & 421 at 9:00 a.m. Central time zone (1hr. behind Indiana and Michigan Eastern time zone) on May 22nd.

A second group of Hoosier Cruisers will meet at J & D's Truck Stop at the northwest corner of the intersection of Hwys US 12 & US 31 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time zone.

Both groups will rendezvous at the gate in the holding area.

We will try to make a tentative list of those attending at the first rally. Remember we will need your help to serve a dinner at the rally which the club is paid for their services.

Plan to join in the fun!
